It was the second spring after they went to the Hansen family that Evie realized her mother had changed.
Her mother gave her beloved doll to a kid of Brian's relative.
Her father bought her that doll, and she cried the whole night that day.
However, her mother said...
"We are in Mr. Brian Hansen's house, and it's different from our own. You have to be more sensible. Your dad bought you so many dolls. It's not a big deal to give one away. You have to be good."
When she went to that relative's house later, she saw that doll again.
Seeing such a pretty doll thrown into a corner in tatters, Evie's heart was broken.
But...
She always remembered her mother's words.
They were living in someone else's home, so she had to be good, sensible, and obedient.
Although she felt horrible, she still did not take that doll away.
Things similar to this happened way too many times in the years to come.
When she was with Caspian, she was most afraid of how her mother would react if she found out about it.
But...
It was all good now.
She no longer had to doubt whether her mother loved her or not.
She never had to worry about her mother giving away something she loved easily to another child anymore.
"Evie Cross!"
Jane yelled, her voice shaking violently.
Evie had already reached the door.
She bit the corner of her lip, and tears kept falling. She stretched out her hand, trying to take her phone and bag.

The readers' comments on the novel: My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup
I am at Chapter 550 and there are almost 2 stories in 1. Aron and Evie's story could very well have been made into another story. Such a waste of time because I am reading for Byron and Athena, not Evie and Aron...
Is there no new updates after this one?...
