My Past is Just Prologue (Janet and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 242

Chapter 242 Feel Chilled To The Bone

It was late at night.

Janet was exhausted and was about to go to bed when someone gently knocked on the door.

Her eyebrows moved slightly, and a trace of guilt and helplessness flashed through her eyes. She went

forward and opened the door.

Sure enough, Nigel was standing at the door.

His expression was difficult to read. There was a perfect smile on his lips.

For some reason, Janet felt a little guilty. She coughed lightly. “You’re back?”

There was something in the depth of Nigel’s eyes. He nodded slightly without saying anything.

Janet subconsciously wanted to explain, but Nigel spoke first.

“You were absent from the celebration party today. I will make it up for you tomorrow!” The upset on Nigel’s

face seemed to have disappeared a little. He smiled as usual, and there was no trace of dissatisfaction in his

brisk voice.

The moment he knocked on the door and saw Janet, Nigel was thinking about asking her why she came back

early.

Did she not want to meet him there?

However, when he saw Janet’s hesitant expression, Nigel retreated. He didn’t want to ask anymore.

The answer to the question was most likely not what he wanted. Since that was the case, why should he

ask?

Maybe he should leave it like this…

“There’s no need for that, Nigel. We’ve already held the celebration party today. The award this time wasn’t

won by me alone. My team members also contributed, and they attended the party. Today… I’m very sorry to

have missed the appointment. I was too tired, so I came back early.”

The smile on Nigel’s face instantly stiffened, but in an instant, he returned to his usual look. He acted to

complain with a smile. “Are you serious? You were fine before you left, but you became tired so quickly. Could

it be that you were afraid that I was going to confess on the rooftop, so you ran off halfway?”

Seeing that he did not seem to care at all, Janet was more or less relieved.

Afraid that Nigel would misunderstand again, Janet became more serious. “And I have something to do

tomorrow, so I really don’t have time.”

Hearing this, Nigel suppressed the disappointment in his heart. He cheered himself slightly. “Tomorrow? Is

there something urgent? Do you need me to go with you?

“Thank you for your kindness, but I want to go myself.” Janet pursed her lips.

The next morning.

Janet left before dawn to avoid meeting Nigel again.

The bodyguards of the Longfellow family and the Smedley family had already gathered outside the door, waiting for Janet.

The car started and rushed to the destination,

On the way, Janet sat in the car and watched the scenery outside the car window move back rapidly, but she

still felt that it was not fast enough and wanted to fly there immediately.

Suddenly, there was a collision and the car came to a sudden stop. Janet leaned forward because of inertia.

She frowned and looked out.

Before they could see what was going on, they heard the driver say nervously, “Ms. Longfellow! We hit a car!”

Janet frowned and got out of the car.

They hit a black car. The driver was a muscular man with blond hair and blue eyes. He had already gotten out

of the car and walked towards them fiercely. He was still muttering something.

Janet could hear clearly that the muscular man didn’t say anything good.

However, Janet didn’t want to argue. She still had more important things to do.
