"I'm not hungry!" He didn't sound like he was open to talking.
Facing something like this, I too was at a loss for what to do. I quickly followed him to the car and got in the driver's seat before he could. I looked at him and said, "I'll drive you back home."
It was not safe for him to drive in this state.
He frowned. "Why? Are you feeling sorry for me?"
"No!" I replied hastily. After a pause, I started the engine and said, "We are friends and I just want to help."
"Ha!" He sneered. "Are you trying to pay for everything you've done?"
Knowing that he was in a bad mood, I did not say much and just focused on driving him home.
When the car came to a stop, he leaned against his seat and closed his eyes. Then, he said in an extremely tired voice, "You don't have to worry about your place in the Granger Group. Nerissa will soon be in charge of everything. She is Hendrix's aunt, so she won't do anything to you."
I pursed my lips. "What about you?"
"I'll go back to Mesville!" He pinched the bridge of his nose. "I came back here just to take care of my mother. Now that all her worries are gone, it's best for me to return to Mesville."
I didn't know much about Yohannes's marriage. No matter what it was, it was nobody's place to judge. There wasn't any reason for me to say anything else.
I was silent for a moment before I said, "Let's go. I'll send you. You should eat something and have a good rest, and then you can think about what you want to do in the future."
He looked at me from the side, his eyes dark and unpredictable, "Charles should be planning for how to assimilate you into the Reid family. Things should be easier for you from now on. As for the Moore family's business, try not to get yourself tangled in that anymore. Pedro was the cause of many people's accidental deaths. You should be careful."
