I wanted to get up, but before I could even stand, my legs had already gone limp, and I fell sitting.
"Mrs. Roberts, are you alright?"
I shook my head, gradually realizing that the call was still going on, so I stretched my hand out to grab my phone.
Putting the phone beside my ear, I opened my mouth; my voice suddenly was nowhere to be found.
"Arianna, are you alright?" Ian's anxious voice sounded from the other end of the phone.
I opened my mouth and discovered that I couldn't speak at the moment. Fiona had been so shocked that her hands were slightly trembling.
She got me a glass of hot water and looked at me, saying, "Mrs. Roberts, drink some water first, don't panic."
I nodded and took a sip of water. The water was very bitter and unbearable.
It was only after a long while that I managed to find my voice. I spoke into the phone, "Ian, what did you say just now?"
I opened my mouth, my voice still a little hoarse.
Ian said, "Arianna, listen to me, don't panic for now. I don't know what exactly happened in the Saunders family in Hanlusia City, you may have to go there to check things out in person."
"Okay..." I mumbled.
The first thing I instantly thought of was to give Josiah a call.
After hanging up Ian's call, I dialled Josiah's number. Nobody picked up for a long time.
It was still the same after a few calls in a row. Out of desperation, I dialed Freya's number instead.
Fortunately, Freya quickly picked up the call. She asked, "Arianna, what's up?"
I nodded. Not wanting to waste any time, I booked a flight to Hanlusia City as soon as I hung up the phone. It had been more than ten days since Anne left with Josiah for Hanlusia City.
It was about time for her to return too, so I might as well pick her up from Hanlusia City.
I left the villa and drove speedily to the airport. I saw Hendrix's calls coming in one after another, but I had no intention of picking up.
After arriving at the airport, I got my ticket and boarded the plane. The air stewardess made a reminder for us to turn off our phones and tablets.
I took a look at Hendrix's text message. I can sense the frantic as it said, "Arianna, pick up my call first. I've already gotten people to take care of
the incident with Anne."
I turned off my phone. As the plane took off, a big hole gradually began to appear in my heart.
Some things cannot be cured in a lifetime. Anne was the reason I lived. After being together for so many years, she was already like my own biological child. I had already lost one child; I couldn't afford to lose another.
