My Substitute CEO Bride (Nash Calicraft) novel Chapter 1239

Chapter 1239

Blaine’s face fell as he asked again, “Who’s your boyfriend?”

Melody replied with a smile, “He should be on the way here. You can hang around a little longer if you’d like to meet him.”

Nash came to the 18th floor as per Melody’s location link.

A banner with the words ‘Stone Group’ was hung at the entrance of

the office studio.

Two black men dressed in black suits stood guard at the entrance They were around 190cm tall.

Nash sensed a kind of special energy emanating from them, so he deduced they were skilled martial artists from overseas.

He could not figure out who they were protecting. Deciding not to dwell upon it, he walked briskly into the office.

“Good afternoon, Mr. Calcraft,” Tina greeted Nash with a smile while filling a cup of water from the water dispenser.

Nash returned the smile and said, “Yeah, I’m here to see Melody!”

Tina shot him a weird look as she said, “Oh wow, perfect timing! She’s

in her office.”

Slightly puzzled at her words, Nash decided to let it slide: He headed

into the office.

Meanwhile, Blaine had just calmed himself down from the surprise he got when Melody told him she had a boyfriend. He reasoned it was perfectly normal for Melody to have a boyfriend, given she was

already 28 years old.

He knew it would be irrational to think she would keep waiting for him

after all these years.

However, now that he was back in Xanthalos, he felt Melody should reconsider him as a potential partner. He had become a better version of himself, after all.

With this thought in mind, Blaine blurted out, “Why don’t you break up with him? I can give you a better life than him!”

Amused at his way of thinking, Melody laughed and said bluntly, ” Excuse me? Aren’t you the boss of a company with a net worth of 300 billion? I can’t believe you’re still so immature!”

‘What’s with his ego? Does he think money is all women ever care about? When have I ever needed to depend on a man for financial support?’ she thought.

Blaine said solemnly, “I know you still love me, Melody. I’m sure of it. In fact, you said you have a boyfriend on purpose, right? So that I’d

get jealous?”

Before Melody could reply, Nash walked into the office.

He asked, “Hey, Melody. Are those your bodyguards at the entrance?”

Seeing Nash’s arrival, Melody got up from her seat and walked toward

him. “Nope: Do I look like I need bodyguards?”

The two of them shared a brief hug.

Looking at Blaine, Nash asked, “And he is?”

Without waiting for Melody’s reply, Blaine offered his hand in a handshake and said with a warm smile, “Nice to meet you. I’m Blaine Lowe. I was Melody’s university deskmate for three years. I’m also the chairman of Normier Group, a company that I founded in Balaria.”

“I’m Nash Calcraft, and I’m… Mel’s boyfriend!”

Nash immediately sensed the hostility from Blaine, but he still accepted his handshake.

Hearing Nash calling her ‘Mel’, Melody was getting butterflies in her stomach. She blushed slightly.

Suddenly, she was curious to see how the two men would play out

the next scene.

As such, she decided to remain silent and maintained her position

next to Nash.

Hearing Nash’s introduction, Blaine was somewhat irritated. Keeping a polished smile plastered on his face, he asked, “Do you have your own company, Mr. Calcraft? Or are you working under someone…?”

Nash looked much younger than himself, so he was quite certain Nash was not as ‘successful’ as he was.

Nash smiled and said, “I’m currently unemployed.”

Stunned at his words, Blaine asked again, his voice dripping with

sarcasm, “You’re unemployed? But you’re still so young! Shouldn’t youngsters like you be working hard at this stage of life?”

Nash chuckled. “Why should I be working hard?”

Taken aback at his words, Blaine questioned stiffly, “What do you mean why? Don’t you want to live a better life?”

Nash laughed and said, “Well, I’m doing very well financially. I get to eat and do the things I like. I’d say I’m living a pretty good life already!”
