My Substitute CEO Bride (Nash Calicraft) novel Chapter 1934

Alfius and Jake led a team of explorers to find those who, like Sven, were lone survivors at Sven's previous shelter.

They also aimed to survey the terrain.

The island had two mountains, and it would take about four to five hours to traverse them. Finding scattered survivors in such a vast area was no easy task.

Jake suddenly groaned while pretending to clutch his stomach.

"What's wrong?" Alfius asked.

"My stomach hurts. You guys wait here. I need to relieve myself," Jake said.

"Fine, but hurry up," Alfius replied, feeling a bit annoyed.

What Alfius did not know was that Jake intended to destroy evidence. He also planned to kill Sven later.

Jake was shocked when he arrived at Sven's shelter. He had encountered Sven in the forest when recruiting him to the tribe and had no idea his shelter was so close to the scene of his third victim. Sven must have been there already, and he might already know something.

Sure enough, he saw footprints on the ground that were partially covered by grass. Even he had not noticed them before.

As he hastily cleaned up the scene, Jake then started yelling. Jake knew they would come this way soon, so he wanted to be the first to find the body.

Alfius and the others rushed over upon hearing the scream. That was when they noticed Jake, sitting on the ground with his pants still down.

"Hey! Jake, are you alright?" Alfius asked with concern.

Jake's acting was impeccable. He looked genuinely terrified, which convinced everyone he was really scared out of his wits.

"Hey! Hey, Jake!" Alfius shouted, trying to snap him out of it.

Jake was genuinely frightened, and Alfius could not just leave him there. He told his subordinates, "Let's head back for now. We'll return tomorrow and take note of the numbers."

With that, they hurried back. What they did not notice was a pair of eyes watching them from the bushes.
