My Substitute CEO Bride (Nash Calicraft) novel Chapter 2008

Torah's mother finally revealed the truth to him.

"In fact, you're a child of dragonkin and gods. I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier," Torah's mother admitted while weeping.

"But... why?" Torah asked, tears streaming down his face as well.

"Why tell me all this now? Why are you here, Mother?"

Torah's mother slowly dissipated before his eyes.

Suddenly, there was a voice in the dark, calling out, "Torah! Wake up, kid!"

"Is someone calling me?" Torah wondered. "Who is it? Is... Is it Commander Cormick?"

...

Back on the battlefield, Torah was slowly opening his eyes.

A massive tentacle, as hard as a nail, had pierced his body.

Torah looked down at his body in disbelief, then at the monstrous creature before him. He realized then that he had been hypnotized by that creature.

The creature had then taken advantage of the situation to stab him. Now, he was awake.

"Mother, thank you." Torah knew then that his mother had told him all that to wake him up.

"Divine power? Did I inherit some too? Whatever, it doesn't matter. I'm ready!"

Torah grabbed the tentacle that had pierced his chest and then forcefully snapped it off with his massive arm!

Cormick watched Torah who was now awake from below and gave a thumbs-up. "Haha! Kid, you're amazing!"

Torah glanced at him before charging furiously toward the tentacled monster. The monster began to retreat step by step, seemingly bewildered by Torah's sudden onslaught. Torah grabbed two of its tentacles.

"Guess what's next?" Torah said while forcefully pulling on the creature's tentacles.

The two tentacles tore in half, and blood came splattering down like rain droplets on the ground.

Torah struck again, and the monster's eyeball burst.
