My Sweetheart novel Chapter 571

Joseph did not go to school in the morning and Kathy, after taking with him on the phone, went to meet Sonny.

She did not have lunch yet. After knowing it, Sonny immediately offered to buy her some food.

"Sonny, I'm not hungry," Kathy said embarrassedly.

She didn't want to bother him.

"It doesn't matter. We can get started after you have your lunch," Sonny said with a warm smile on his face.

He looked quite handsome and when he smiled, he was more attractive.

But Kathy had always faced Joseph, an extremely perfect and charming man, so she was not interested in other men.

When Kathy was done, they began to discuss their assignment.

For them, it was not just an ordinary assignment. If Professor Lee likes their work in this, it would be able to expand into a research project and probably be published in a prestigious academic journal.

It was exactly what Sonny wanted, so he ploughed his energies into it. Aware of his expectation, Kathy also took it seriously.

The subject was the reaction of quaternary ammonium salts. Sonny was obviously much more proficient than Kathy. Sonny was able to express his ideas easily while this subject was unfamiliar to Kathy.

Sonny advised her to properly do her homework and catch up in this area.

It was very late when they finally nailed down the direction of the subject.

"Are you hungry?" Sonny smiled with concern in his eyes.

Kathy rubbed her neck. She was indeed hungry.

Time passed unknowingly.

"Let's go. I'll buy you supper. I guess the assignment will take us at least a week." Sonny estimated the progress.

"It seems like I'm holding you back." Kathy felt a little sorry.

"Never mind. We are a team, so we should help each other," Sonny encouraged.

At this moment, Sonny's phone rang. Kathy slowed her steps on purpose.

Just as she turned around, a figure suddenly flashed in front of her. The man was about to attack her neck. When Kathy regained her senses, she was unable to dodge at all.

Sonny, who was originally on the phone, turned his head and saw this scene. He charged over quickly and grabbed the man's wrist. It was at night, so Kathy couldn't recognize the man clearly.

The one quickly escaped. Sonny did not pursue him but turned to Kathy. He asked with concern, "Are you alright?"

Kathy's face was somewhat pale. She shook her head.

Who was that person?

She was a little frightened.

"Do we need to call the police?"

Kathy nodded and then Sonny said, "The surveillance cameras nearby had been destroyed, so that man came prepared."

After they reported the case at the police station, Kathy suddenly discovered the wound on Sonny's wrist.

"You're bleeding!" She cried out in alarm and immediately fished out the gauze from her bag.

As a medical student, she always carried these medical supplies with her.

"I'm okay." Sonny smiled faintly.

However, the cut was a little deep, and he was looking pale.

"Let's go to the hospital." Kathy covered the cut with clean bandage but the injury was obviously serious.

"Kathy, I'm sorry to trouble you." Sonny rubbed his head, feeling a little guilty.

"What are you talking about? You saved me from the attack. It was I who should make an apology." Kathy pressed her lips.

She knew Sonny got injured because of her.

Sonny looked at her with a strange emotion in his eyes.

They arrived at the hospital quickly. Kathy waited outside the consultation room. At this time, they could only go to the emergency room.

Her phone rang and she found a few missed calls from Joseph.

She picked it up immediately.

"Kathy, you aren't back to your dormitory yet?" Joseph's voice was a little cold.

"Sonny is injured, so I accompanied him to the hospital."

"It's so late. I'll come to pick you up." Joseph said imposingly.
