Bailey went on to explain, "This is my other daughter, Lillianna's twin sister, Lacey Carter, who is also the leading lady on the video!"
"What?"
The crowd was blown away.
Amidst the noisy crowd, a man quietly streamed live with his phone.
And on the other end of this live stream was the entire Facebook community.
Meanwhile, Sam tapped his desk gently in his office.
He gazed at the girl on the stage via the computer screen.
She hadn't spoken since she got on stage. Her expression was so flat and unchanged. Her one pair of eyes was even calmer.
"She lacked upbringing from a young age. She had done theft, told lies, and was greedy. She had two abortions in junior high, and her personal life was a mess." He recalled the contents of the document.
Yet, why did she seem so calm? Was it because she had been through all too much?
Two hours had passed.
In those few hours, countless questions and scorn had swept over her.
Despite this, she only said one sentence during the entire conference, "Yes, that's me in the video!"
That statement caused a stir on Facebook.
All kinds of horrible insults could be heard from below the stage. There were even calls for her to be kicked out of South City.
"Can I go now?" She held up her hand and looked at the time. It had been two hours. Her mother would be concerned if she didn't return.
Of a sudden, Bailey came forward and slapped her across the face.
Lacey was caught off guard.
Many reporters were astounded as well.
Lowering her head, Lacey smiled. She then came to a halt and stared at her so-called father.
Bailey gazed into her dark eyes, which were as cold as ice. He felt sorry for her. Yet, only for a moment.
Staring at him, Lacey beamed, but a mournful one.
"Don't forget the promise you made!" Shortly afterward, she said in a low voice that only the two could hear.
From there, she turned and walked out the door.
It was pouring outside.
The dark sky was as oppressed as her current mood.
She stood quietly, watching the pouring rain. Her hands clutched the hem of her clothes as she trembled.
"You have to take the blame for your sister if you want your mother to be treated!"
"Dare you refuse? Are you confident that you'll be able to make it in South City?"
"Do you suppose she'll listen to you, or do you think she'll listen to me and return to Klosa?"
Indeed, he was confident that Maria would never disobey him.
He was also sure that she couldn't tolerate being apart from her mother.
