Mysterious Little Wife novel Chapter 21

"Sam!"

Lillianna darted over and shouted anxiously, "Sam, why don't you pass her to me?"

She was baffled as to why he had to carry Lacey out.

"Sam!" Tilly approached him with a somber expression on her face. She glanced at the girl in his arms and gave him an icy glare. "What do you think you're doing?"

Sam replied coldly, "She's got a fever."

"Sam, give her to me. I'll take her home." Bailey came over as well. He raised a fawning smile and added, "It's your engagement party tonight. We can't let her spoil it for you. Come on. I'll take her home!"

Bailey reached out and was about to take Lacey from Sam's arms.

"She's not going home. She's going to the hospital!" Sam dodged his hands.

Bailey was stunned, and the corner of his mouth twitched. He responded with an awkward smile, "Yes, I'll take her to the hospital right away. She must be running a fever. Hurry, hand her over to me!"

"It's okay. I can hold her!" Sam sounded indifferent.

"Sam, what are you doing—" Lillianna trembled and bit her lower lip. Why? Why was he so adamant about not letting her go?

"There are a lot of people in the Carter family. Why are you the one taking her to the hospital? Do you know what day it is?" Tilly despised Lacey. Her eyes were full of endless contempt.

Alvaro came over and ordered, "Sam, pass her to Mr. Carter."

"Yes, yes, pass her to me." Bailey humbly said as he leaned forward.

Sam's obsidian eyes showed no emotion. He stared faintly at the girl in his arms before looking up and responding, "My clothes are soaking wet. I'll take her to the hospital myself, so your clothes don't get wet too."

Only then did the crowd realize that Sam's clothes were drenched from holding Lacey.

Before anybody could react, he carried her out.

"Sam." Lillianna bit her lip. Her lashes fluttered, and she burst into tears.

"Don't cry, Lillianna. Sam is simply too kind." Tilly hurried over to her future daughter-in-law and comforted her.

Lillianna shook her head. She gazed up to Tilly and said, "Aunt Tilly, I'm fine. I just don't think I'm doing enough for my sister. I got Sam to worry about my family matters. It's all my fault."
