The rain was getting heavier.
And the wind grew strong.
What a horrible shape the ocean had.
They needed to seek shelter from the rain as soon as possible!
The sky, however, was overcast, and the island seemed to be dreary.
Fortunately, Lacey had lived in the country since she was a child. She had done things like harvesting millet, planting saplings in the rain, and catching fish.
Although it was pouring fiercely, she remained calm and understood that she needed to find shelter from the rain.
Otherwise, as the sky darkened, the island could be in danger at any time.
Meanwhile, how had the president of GH ever come across such a challenge?
He walked slowly along the way. His temper was as gloomy as the weather.
Lacey wished she could just ignore him. However, there was no one else on the island but him.
If any beasts appeared, she wouldn't be able to deal with them alone.
As a result, she occasionally turned her head to check on him.
The sand beneath her feet soon covered her shoes. The air was filled with an indescribable smell that made it difficult to breathe.
Lacey made her way along the dense branches of the trees as she looked around.
She was hoping to find some cover from the rain.
However, her vision gradually blurred as the rain became heavier.
Just as Lacey wiped the rain off her face, she noticed a large rock in the distance.
She turned and looked at Sam, waving her hand as she said, "Hurry over. There seems to be a rocky hill ahead of us. Let's go see if there's anywhere to take shelter from the rain—"
Sam's expression turned glum just before she finished her sentence, and he struck forward.
......
He grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her over.
Just like that, Lacey crashed into the man's arms.
Such an intense collision caused tears to fall from her eyes.
"Are you mad!" Lacey yelled in his arms, her eyes crimson, as she fought to push him away.
"Don't move!" Sam's hoarse voice sounded above her head.
"What are you doing? Let me go!" Lacey fought to break free.
As if oblivious to her yelling, Sam held her in his arms as he carefully backed away.
Lacey looked up and found his eyes unusually serious.
Frowning slightly, she followed his sight and looked back.
"Gasp," she took a deep breath.
Two snakes were coiling around the branch she had just moved aside.
"Stand still!" He pushed her back.
After that, he took a branch from the ground and dragged the snakes away.
The two snakes swam around subconsciously after landing on the ground.
Lacey was taken aback.
She didn't have any fears.
Except for snakes, that was.
She had been bitten by a snake as a child while helping her mother pick sweet potatoes. Worst still, it was a viper!
She was scared out of her wits.
Since then, she has developed a phobia of snakes!
After taking two steps forward, Sam turned to look back.
He found Lacey standing still, arms crossed and shivering. Her face was gravely pale.
"Are you terrified of snakes?" He asked.
Lacey bit her lower lip, her scalp tingling. She couldn't move at all.
"Are you going to leave or not?" Sam couldn't resist asking again, as Lacey didn't respond.
Despite this, she remained motionless, even as the rain poured down on her. Her eyes gradually dimmed.
Sam glanced at her indifferently.
How could a person who had been so lively a few minutes ago now become sad and glum? He felt a little uneasy about it.
What was she thinking now?
Sam frowned. A deep look of hostility flashed across his eyes.
He moved up to her and casually threw his arm around her waist. After that, he lifted her horizontally and started to walk forward.
The sudden gesture brought Lacey back to reality.
Sam remained silent in the rain. He went to the rocky hill she pointed.
Shortly after, he discovered a small cave.
It wasn't big inside, with some dead branches and a pile of burnt dust.
It was clear that someone had come here before.
After placing her inside on a stone bench, Sam decisively moved the dried branches in the middle.
He then used a lighter to light the branches.
Soon the sound of burning flames came from the cave.
"Thank you—" Lacey's eyelashes twitched. It took a lot of effort for her to keep her tone calm.
Sam remained silent. He frowned as he lowered his head and pressed the back of his hand forcefully.
Lacey held her breath and gazed at him with a frown.
