Mysterious Little Wife novel Chapter 50

"Lacey, why are you here alone? Did you come to visit your mother?"

"Lacey, I'm glad you could come. Lillianna said that you couldn't come because you had things to do. Luckily, I went and asked your father, and he told you to come right away!"

"Lacey, it's been a busy day. Even my parents came to celebrate Aunty Tilly's birthday."

"Lacey, do you suppose Sam will be announcing his and Lillianna's wedding date today?"

All along the way, Theo talked nonstop.

Lacey would mostly just nod and reply faintly.

The truth was, she paid no attention to what Theo was saying.

Her mind didn't seem to have calmed down from the story she had just told.

Why was Maria framed and her virginity taken away?

Who was that so-called "friend"?

Maria's social standing was not poor at the time. She was considered a prestigious wealthy young lady in South City.

Not to mention, Bailey was her bodyguard.

Logically speaking, she should have been perfectly safe.

Hence, how did the incidence occur?

After the incident, where did her so-called "friend" go?

Lacey clasped her hands uneasily.

A terrible feeling of realization dawned on her at that moment.

Could it be that Bailey was behind all this?

After all, Bailey was just a bodyguard. He couldn't be married to Maria.

The only way he could marry Maria was to drag her into such a disaster!

"Lacey! Lacey!" Theo called out to her in a loud voice.

"Huh?" Lacey took a slight pause before returning to her senses.

"We're here. Why have you been distracted the whole way?" Theo frowned. "Are you feeling uncomfortable?"

Lacey gazed at him, then out the window at the exquisite villa. How eye-catching.

They arrived at the Garrison's house!

"No, no. I got up a little too early in the morning and didn't get much sleep. Anyway, we've arrived. Let's leave the car!" Lacey smiled and pushed her thoughts to the back of her mind.

Theo smiled. "All right, let's go!"

The lobby of the Garrison was enormous. The entire place was decorated with the most beautiful flowers.

Flowers, wine, desserts, and air-freighted seafood adorned each long table.

Everything screamed expensive.

More than 20 waiters shuttled back and forth to ensure that each guest had the most excellent experience possible.

Furthermore, Alvaro invited the most well-known pianist in South City.

As soon as guests entered the venue, they'd be greeted with the most pleasant atmosphere.

No wonder he was the richest man in South City. Such spectacle was probably more grand than the wedding of some second-rate diva.

Meanwhile, Lillianna went up to the third floor to find Sam after greeting everyone.

Sam was in front of a mirror, putting on a wrinkle-free white shirt handed to him by one of the servants.

His pointed brows, starry eyes, towering nose, thin lips, and flawless facial contours were impeccable.

No matter how many times she looked at him, her heart would race uncontrollably.

Sam stopped buttoning his shirt when there were only three buttons remained on his collar

Such a look of his gave a hint of sensuality in his appearance, and it made Lillianna feel nervous.

"You're here?" Sam shifted his gaze to her.

"Hey—" Lillianna blushed. "Aunty Tilly said you got on the plane at three in the morning and didn't get much sleep when you got back to the South City. It must have been exhausting for you."

Sam replied, a small smile on his face, "I'm used to it." Then he casually asked, "Is your family here?"

Lillianna was taken aback for a moment before responding with a smile, "Dad and Mum are here. My brother will return from his trip overseas soon. He'll surely attend our next party!"

"What about Lacey?" Sam went on to ask.

Lillianna was startled.

Why?

Why did he ask about Lacey?

A somber mood clouded Sam's face as Lillianna didn't respond.

He approached her, his tall figure shrouded in an indescribable chill. "Didn't I tell you that I want your entire family to come?" Sam lifted her chin, unhappy.

Lillianna saw the coldness in his eyes and couldn't help but shiver.

"Lacey left early in the morning. She said she had something important to do today—" She stammered.

"Oh, really?" Sam grinned.

Lillianna hurriedly nodded.

Sam couldn't help but be amused by her anxious look. He then reached out and took her in his arms. "Why are you so nervous? Come on, let's go down."

Lillianna's breathing was erratic. She looked sideways at the man's attractive face and wondered what he was thinking.

He went from passionate to cold in a matter of seconds.

The next thing she knew, he was holding her and speaking softly to her, filling her with adoration.

Despite this—

She had an uneasy feeling that something was not quite right.

The two took the elevator up to the first floor.

Lacey?

She came!

Sam noticed Lacey right away.

The man's pupils shrank afterward.

She was sitting next to Theo, and they were happily chatting.

Sam's eyes grew cold as he looked at the two's happy faces.

The scene struck him as piercing for some reason.

"Does it taste good?" Theo handed her the dessert and said with a chuckle, "Do you have any favorite stars? I'll get their autographs for you."

"Will they sign for you?" Lacey asked with confusion.

"Without a doubt! After all, I'm none other than Mr. Henderson!" He beamed.

Lacey smiled. She then began looking through the crowd for Bailey.
