Lightning flashed in the alley. Her vision gradually blurred, and she could see lots of overlapping figures approaching her.
"Ahh!"
Pearl woke up from the sofa screaming, and the pillow on her chest seemed to weigh a thousand pounds. The sound of rain hitting against the windows was the same as the rain in her dream.
After a long while, she went back to her senses. Cold sweat broke out all over her body.
She kept recalling this dream that was based on her memories over and over again. Suddenly, she understood something.
Seven years ago, on the night of the graduation party, Adriana, who'd never gotten drunk before, suddenly drank a lot of wine. So she asked Richard to send Adriana home.
That night, Pearl went to the party for Richard. She didn't drink any alcohol that night since she still needed to go back to the lab and do some experiments.
The university lab was not far from the party hall. It would her no more than ten minutes to get there, which was why Richard had allowed her to go back herself.
Adriana set everything up. She took every detail into consideration. She even believed that if Pearl took her back to the dormitory, Adriana would have other ways to make her walk into that alley.
Thinking of this, Pearl clenched her fists.
However, she still didn't figure one thing out.
The reason Adriana drank so much was because she wanted to part Richard from Pearl so that Pearl could walk to lab alone, but how and when was Pearl drugged?
When the hell did that happen?
Did anything go wrong on the party?
Even though seven years had passed, she would still go through all the details of that banquet when she was free.
She remembered that day, she'd only drunk juice all time. Halfway through, her glass was accidentally knocked over by another person, who then gave her another glass.
Gradually, a man's face appeared in her mind.
Alexander Miller.
It rained the whole night, but the sun shone brightly in the morning.
At the president's office, Ted hurriedly knocked on the door with a document in his hand.
"Mr. Zellweger."
"Just in time." Richard looked up from behind the desk and tapped the contract in front of him. "Send all these contracts to the Legal Department. We'll have a meeting at 10."
"Yes," Ted nodded. After a moment of hesitation, he handed over the leather envelope and said, "Mr. Zellweger, this is the result of the paternity test we have just received from the hospital."
Richard's hand trembled for a bit, but no one noticed that.
There were two paternity tests results inside.
When he saw the results, his eyes immediately turned cold.
The paternity tests showed that he didn't have blood relation to that two children.
He thought he must have been crazy to think that he was their father.
If they were really his children, then why would Pearl broke up with him, and suddenly went abroad? None of it made any sense.
