They then left the airport and took a taxi. Pearl asked him about the beauty just now. 

Ethan said casually, "We met on the plane. She sat right next to me."

"Don't you already have a girlfriend already? Why are you flirting with other girls?"

"Girlfriend? Which one?"

Pearl was speechless. "Alina. You told me on phone."

"Ah she...Well, we broke up."

"Again?" Pearl was surprised. "If I remember it correctly, you told she became your girlfriend just three days ago. Why did you break up this time?"

"I have said that I can't accept long-distance relationships."

Well, it made some sense. Ethan indeed wouldn't return to Maniville for a while. This was actually a country-level long-distance relationship.

However, his words that could only fool little girls. Pearl'd already seen through Ethan since a long time ago. Even if they weren't in a long-distance relationship, he could make up plenty of reasons for a breakup. He always wanted to try new ones. 

Pearl did not ask any more about it. She didn't want his lifestyle to influence her children. 

"By the way, can I just wear this to your home? Would it be too casual?" Pearl asked. 

Today after work, she didn't even have time to change her clothes as she went straight to the airport. So she was wearing a simple white shirt and jeans.

Ethan glanced at her casually and said, "What are you afraid of? Ugly daughters-in-law also have to meet the in-laws too. I promise you that even if you are only wearing a potato sack, my mom will still like you."

Pearl rolled her eyes at him. But she still felt a bit nervous. 

Bonny was tired of playing with Ethan. So she left him behind and went to watch Brandon play mobile games.

Ethan teased, "So heartless." Then he patted Pearl on the shoulder. "Alright, don't be nervous anymore. My families are all kind and nice. They will be overjoyed at the fact that I brought back such a pretty and capable daughter-in-law."

"Are you really not going to explain it to your parents?" Pearl asked. 

"Why do so? Our marriage is a fact. It's written in black and white; we even went through official procedure in Maniville. What's the use of denying it?"

When Pearl first arrived in Maniville seven years ago, she was pregnant with her children. Luckily, she met Ethan, and they even became really good friends. Later, for helping her take care of her children, Ethan took her to register their marriage.

This was something that would never have happened had it been anyone else. It just so happened that the man whom she had met was Ethan. 

Ethan had always been a headache of their parents. They were always urging him to settle down and get married. Thanks to her, Ethan was able to have peace for quite a few years.

But he couldn't hide it forever. Back then, Ethan had been studying abroad, so Ethan had ways to prevent his parents from meeting his 'wife'. However, now that he came back, it was time to let Pearl meet his parents. 

Ethan said, "My mom told me that if I don't bring her a real daughter-in-law this time, she would freeze my bank card and break my leg."

"Let her freeze it. You have a job."

"With that small amount of salary? Are you going to raise me?"
