James said, “We watched an animated movie together, and they always slept with their mothers in the movie.” 

Linda crouched down. “So, Lexi, you want to sleep with Mommy, right?” 

Lexi nodded vigorously. “Yes. Other kids sleep with their moms, so I want to too.” 

Linda had no choice but to pick her up. “Okay, but first, play with James for a while.” 

“What will Mommy do?” 

“Mommy has a meeting later. Once you’re tired from playing, you can come to Mommy’s room to sleep, okay?” 

As the end of the year approached, Linda was busier than ever. Her overseas business mainly involved movies, so she had to juggle that with her other responsibilities. 

In the future, Linda wasn’t sure if she would always be in the film industry, but having connections made everything much easier, 

“What kind of meeting needs to be held at night?” Samson asked as he removed his coat and placed it on the couch after he got back from a social event. “Lexi, come here. Daddy will hold you.” 

“Daddy!” 

“It’s a meeting related to the film industry, scheduled according to their availability.” 

“Don’t overwork yourself.” 

“Mm, you and James can play with Lexi first.” 

Linda went upstairs to her room. 

Lexi clung to Samson’s neck and said, “Daddy, try a little harder.” 

“Isn’t Daddy already trying his best?” 

“Try even harder, so Mommy won’t be so tired.” 

“But that would make Daddy very tired.” 

Lexi pretended to think deeply and said, “But Daddy is a man. Men can handle more hardships!” 

Her comment left Samson speechless. 

“Baby, don’t you feel sorry for Daddy?” 

Lexi kissed him on the cheek. “I feel sorry for Daddy, but I love Mommy more.” 

Samson had no response. They said a daughter was her father’s little sweetheart, but it seemed his sweetheart was a bit drafty. 

When Linda finished her meeting and returned to her room, Lexi was already asleep. 

Her heart felt full as she pulled back the covers and lay down, pulling Lexi into her arms, 

Lexi nestled against her neck and slept soundly. 

Linda thought about her other child. If that child had been alive, he would likely be older than Lexi now.
