It was clear that William had seen the accusatory note Joanne had left behind. 

Linda did not care what William thought. After all, he had never once believed her in all their years together. 

She was just curious about what William would do since his mother had been the one who died. 

Linda did not believe that William could be that ruthless. 

Could he really not care about the cause of his own mother’s death? 

She guessed that William would blame her instead. He had done similar things in the past. It wouldn’t be unusual for him to do so. 

“Linda, do you think William will try to put the blame on us?” Chloe suddenly seemed to think of something. “Hey, do you remember the incident with the emerald bangle?” 

At the mention of the emerald bangle, a memory popped up in Linda’s mind from the first year of her marriage with William. 

She had been too naive at the time and had believed that love could change everything. 

William’s grandmother, Camellia Stern, liked Linda very much. 

After they got married, she gave Linda her emerald bangle. 

Joanne and Sean had married after William’s grandfather, Bernard Wilson, set them up. 

The emerald bangle was a family treasure, but Camellia had passed it on to Linda instead of Joanne because she did not like Joanne at all. 

Linda was delighted and surprised to receive the gift, but she did not think it was right for her to accept it. So, she tried to decline several times. 

However, Camellia insisted. 

Linda wasn’t ignorant and knew how expensive the emerald bangle was. She took care not to wear it. 

She had thought that she would be able to keep the bangle safe that way. 

However, she had been too innocent to know how despicable people could be. 

If someone wanted you to pay the price for something, they would use any means to make it happen. 

Joanne told Linda to take the bangle out as it needed to be cleaned regularly. 

Linda had no idea that emeralds did not need to be cleaned regularly, especially when they were deep emeralds, which indicated a very high quality. 

The bangle’s color would change according to the person wearing it and their luck. 

However, Linda had been so intent on improving her relationship with Joanne that she had obeyed and taken the bangle out even though it did not need to be cleaned. The bangle represented the matriarch of the family. 

Linda had innocently assumed that if things between her and Joanne improved, William would treat her better.
