Lexi stared at Linda, who had suddenly become very stern. “Did I say something wrong. Mommy?” 

Linda hastily suppressed her emotions and ruffled Lexi’s hair gently. “No, of course you didn’t. You’re such a good girl!” 

At that moment, Samson returned. 

He sensed that something was wrong. 

“Samson, take Lexi up to play. I have something to say to the nannies.” 

Samson nodded. “Come here, Lexi. Il take you upstairs to play with your bricks.” 

Lexi reached out and clasped her arms around Samson’s neck. 

When Samson had carried Lexi upstairs, Linda looked at the nannies. 

She sat down on the sofa. “Alright, who was the one who said it? If you don’t want me to check the surveillance footage or let the other nannies say something that’ll affect your job, you’d better come clean with me right now. I’ve always been a reasonable person.” 

She remained calm. Her experiences over the years had trained her to be calm in any situation. 

The three nannies in front of her had only been hired a while ago, and they were unfamiliar with Linda’s character. 

“Ms. Felix, we didn’t say anything.” Ava, who was one of the nannies, was highly educated. 

“Ms. Flores, if there isn’t anything else you want to add, you may leave and get some rest. I know that it wasn’t you.” 

Ava was startled but pleased at Linda’s trust in her. 

“Ms. Miller, Ms. Connell.” Linda looked at the two remaining nannies. “Are you going to tell me, or are you going to make me find out for myself?” 

The one named Nancy Miller had been chosen personally by Lexi. 

Sure enough, Nancy spoke up. Her neck was stiff as she spoke. She felt that she hadn’t done anything wrong. “Ms. Felix, I don’t think it’s right to lie to children. If you didn’t come back, then you didn’t. Did you lie to her for fun?” 

Linda was amused. “Have you forgotten what your place is? You’re just taking care of my child. HowT educate her is my business, and it has nothing to do with you. You’re just a nanny. What right do you have to criticize me? 

“I don’t mind telling you that you wouldn’t even be working here if it wasn’t for the fact that my daughter thinks you’re pretty. Don’t think too highly of yourself You are nothing. Do you really think you’d have a chance to be here if it weren’t for my daughter? 

“You told me confidently that you could take care of her well. Is this the way you take care of her? Do you know how old Lexi is? What would she know about anything?” 

“Ms. Felix, I don’t think lying to children is a good way to educate them.” Nancy insisted that she was in the right. 

Linda burst into laughter. “Tell me, how should I educate my child, then?” 

Nancy found herself lost for words as Linda’s eyes bored into her.
