Chapter 131
“My first reaction was always to wonder whether you had those things.” Hannah suddenly smiled miserably.
“You had everything from the moment you were born. That’s why whenever I saw anything beautiful, I always assumed you already had them.
“Whenever I thought about it, I would see you coming to our place to give me things. Perhaps they were very ordinary things to you, but do you know what price! had to pay because of those things?
“My parents always felt that the help your parents gave us was out of pity for us.”
Linda said suddenly, “Wasn’t that true?
“Your father was ignorant and incompetent. Without my father’s support, your entire family would probably be living on the streets and picking up trash for a living. You were the ones who didn’t show us any gratitude. You were the ones who were too conceited. You were right. We did pity you.
“You felt that you endured hardships so that you could get all of this, but the things you did are against the law. I would never just let that pass. I’ll say this to you right now.
“Hannah, you could have had a good life, but you didn’t treasure what you had.”
Linda picked up her coffee and took a sip as she looked outside the window. The landscape outside was blanketed in snow.
The weather in the suburbs was colder than it was in the city, and all the greenery in the surrounding area had been covered with snow. The entire world seemed to be enveloped in a layer of silver.
“If your father hadn’t been so greedy, my father would have supported your family for the rest of your lives. I’m sure you know that. You were just greedy and wanted to have everything even though you weren’t capable of managing it.
“Who is the one who got you into this situation? You only have yourselves to blame. I wasn’t the one who did it. You can’t really think that your father has the ability to manage the company well, do you?
“The company looks like it’s prospering, but the truth is that it’s only outwardly strong. You’re the only ones who think that the company is doing fine and that you can make it even more successful.
“I’ve never claimed to be a good person. Our family has gone above and beyond for your family.”
Linda got up and took out a hundred–dollar bill, which she placed under her coffee cup.
“Hannah, I’m warning you not to try and cross the line again. When I go crazy, there’s no telling what I’ll do.
“I’ll give you a chance to turn over a new leaf.
“If you take out all the evidence you have to prove the things your parents did, I can guarantee that you will never want for anything for the rest of your life. If you’re greedy, all I can do is initiate judicial proceedings–for you to bear the responsibility for the wrongs you have committed.”
Linda turned and left the cafe, leaying Hannah sitting there in a daze.
When she got back to the car, Luke was there as well.
“What are you doing here?” Linda hadn’t told anyone except for Samson.
“Samson told me about it. He said you were meeting someone out here today and that it was pretty

dangerous. He’s working and was afraid he wouldn’t be able to get here in time if you were in danger.
“He told me to keep an eye on you, so I’ve been following you since you left your neighborhood.” Two sweets appeared on Luke’s palm as if he had just done a magic trick.
