It was evening by the time Linda finished her meeting and returned to the villa. 

Lexi was still awake. She insistently clung to Samson and demanded to watch TV together. 

Samson allowed all of Lexi’s reasonable demands and found enjoyment even in watching childish cartoons. 

At this moment, Lexi was hugging his neck. 

“Lexi, did you have a good day at home?” Linda asked as she changed her shoes and casually placed her bag on the sofa. 

Lexi replied in a sweet voice, “Mommy, I had a super happy day today!”

“Why was today super happy? Wasn’t yesterday happy enough?” 

Lexi thoughtfully touched her chin in a pondering pose “Because Daddy came back in the afternoon and stayed with me. He didn’t go to work.” 

Samson turned to see Lexi spilling the beans. “Lexi, didn’t I tell you not to mention that to Mommy?” 

Lexi quickly covered her mouth with her tiny hands. She tried to explain, “Mommy, you didn’t hear what I just said, right?” 

Linda chuckled. “I just heard a pretty girl named Lexi say she’s happy that her daddy didn’t go to work this afternoon and stayed home with her.” 

Lexi had a woeful look on her face. 

“Did something happen?” Linda asked. 

Samson wouldn’t skip work unless there was a problem. 

Samson explained, “Lynch Group had an issue. I had just arrived at work this morning when I received a call from the secretary. I went over, handled the problem, and had lunch, Since there wasn’t much else to do, I decided to come home and spend time with Lexi. 

“Is it something serious?” 

With the New Year approaching, a major issue at the company could ruin the holiday for the employees and the management. 

“Nothing major. Mr. Moore didn’t pay the workers after the project ended.” 

Such problems were common in the construction industry, but the money involved was negligible for the Lynch family. 

“Great to hear that it’s nothing big. The last thing we need is something big disrupting our New Year celebrations.” 

Linda wasn’t looking forward to the New Year but didn’t want the festive season disrupted either. 

“It’s not that bad.” 

Lexi suddenly piped up. “Daddy, Mommy, will you give me a huge present this year?” 

“What kind of present would you like, Lexi?”
