Chapter 164
“Linda, isn’t it just going to be the two of us?”
“No,” Lexi replied. “Daddy and I are going to go too!”
“Yes. We’re all going,” Linda replied.
Chloe didn’t say anything and got into her car.
Samson drove one of the cars out from the garage while Linda and Lexi waited by the roadside.
Linda already felt like crying the moment their car stopped in the cemetery parking lot.
Even though she wasn’t a crier, she constantly cried back at Osmo.
“Daddy, where are we? What are all these stones?” Lexi was too young to have seen such a place before.
Samson carefully answered, “This is a cemetery, Lexi. Those stones. are gravestones, and under every one of them is someone’s loved. one. You don’t have to be scared because no one here will hurt you.”
“Why did Mommy come here?”
“Because Mommy’s loved ones are here too. That’s why we’re here.”
Linda and Chloe led the way. The weather had been good the past. two days, so the upward slope wasn’t slippery.
Samson was carrying, Lexi, who had both arms around his neck for support as she looked around curiously.
“Why is this place empty, Daddy?”
“Because it’s the New Year, Lexi. Everyone’s loved ones have returned
to their family’s side for the New Year.”
“Are they invisible?”
“Yes. Even though we can’t see them, they are always here with us
Linda approached her parents‘ gravestones and took a piece of tissue paper to gently clean the photographs on the gravestones.
Chloe put the champagne roses down on Adeline’s grave.
Samson put Lexi down and said, “These two pictures are your grandpa and grandma.”
Lexi was confused. “Why can’t I see Grandpa or Grandma?”
“Because they’ve gone somewhere very, very far away,” Linda said. ‘ We can’t see them, but they can see us.”
“Where is this far place?” Even at three years old, she had already
learned to get to the bottom of things.
Chloe patted her on the head. “They’re in a very far place called heaven.”
