Chapter 17 

Listening to her words made William feel a mix of emotions, and he laughed coldly. 

He spoke in a pampering tone that Linda had never heard before, “It was my fault in the past. You can do whatever you want to me.” 

Linda chuckled, finding his words ironic. “What if I want your life, Mr. Wilson?” 

In William’s deep eyes, she saw her own fierce reflection. 

His gaze was filled with tenderness. “Of course. But, before you take my life, can you let me atone first?” 

Everything that happened before was because of him. Thus, he deserved to face whatever Linda wanted 

to do to him. 

Linda found it laughable. Atone? What kind of useless apology was this? 

Looking into his eyes, Linda’s tone was calm and carefree. “Mr. Wilson, whatever you do now is irrelevant to me. If you really want to atone, then stay far away from me and let me stay in Osmo in peace.” 

Recalling her difficult years abroad, Linda sighed. “I don’t ask for much now and just want to live peacefully. I hope you can let me, Mr. Wilson.” 

Perhaps her love for him had been exhausted, so Linda didn’t feel hurt saying this. Rather, she felt 

relieved. 

However, William felt uncomfortable hearing it, tightly holding her wrist. When he accidentally noticed a conspicuous scar on her arm, his expression froze. 

Linda casually said, “It’s from the fire four years ago.” 

She lowered her head to look at the scar. “Actually, medical technology can remove this scar, just like the other scars on my body. It will be as if they never existed.” 

His rough fingers brushed over it. The scar stood out on her fair and delicate wrist. 

“Why didn’t you use technology to remove it?” 

“I need to remember.” Linda pulled her hand away. “That fire almost killed me. If I don’t remember it, should I just wait to die in the hands of those who want me dead?” 

Her tone was indifferent and full of resentment. Perhaps because she once loved William more than her own life, she wanted to let go. In this story, no entanglements between them would be the best outcome. 

The elevator reached the first floor. Linda quickly exited, with William following behind. 

At the hotel entrance, Joanne and Ida approached. 

The moment Linda saw them, she felt a suffocating pressure surrounding her, and her heart felt as if it was gripped by something. 

Joanne and Ida were shocked to see Linda as well, especially Ida, who trembled as she pointed at Linda
