Chapter 212
“Godfather, stay the night here.” Lexi’s face was
as still flushed from crying, and soft hiccups punctuated her
Then, she continued, “It is raining cats and dogs, and it’s not safe. I’ll ask the nanny to prepare a room for you. Sleep here tonight, okay?”
William was more than happy to oblige. “Alright, I won’t go home tonight, I’ll stay here with you.”
Linda didn’t object. If Lexi wanted William to stay, she saw no reason to refuse, even as a mother.
When Samson came downstairs after his shower and saw that William was still there, he felt puzzled. “It is getting late. If you don’t leave soon, it might be harder to navigate the
roads.”
“Daddy, I asked Godfather to stay with us tonight. The rain outside is too heavy and too scary, Lexi explained
Samson bent down, carried Lexi, and kissed her forehead. “Alright, since you want Godfather to stay, he’ll stay. Mommy and Daddy will always listen to you.”
Just then, the nanny brought out a cup of warm vanilla milk.‘ “Sir, please drink this to ward off the chill With this weather, catching a cold would be awful.”
Samson thanked the nanny and instructed, “Prepare the quest room across the master bedroom on the second floor for Mr. Wilson.”
The nanny nodded in agreement
“And also, bring a set of new clothes from my wardrobe for Mr. Wilson,” Samson added
Then, he turned to William. “I hope you don’t mind. We’re about the same size, so they should fit. It’s inconvenient to get new clothes now, and having your assistant deliver them in this weather would be dangerous too.”
“Of course” William agreed with Samson.
After finishing his vanilla milk, Samson noticed Lexi began to doze off in his arms. “Let’s take Lext upstairs to bed,” he suggested.
Linda stood up, and he carefully cradled Lexi as they headed upstales together.
“Make yourself at home, Mr. Wilson,” she said.
As Willam watched them ascend the stairs with Lexi, he felt suffocated. He wasn’t here to tear the family apart but rather to be a part of thers.
The next morning, when William woke up and opened the door, he coincidentally found Samson and Linda emerging from their room at the same time.
The nanny carried Lexi, who was surprised to see her parents emerging from the same room.
“Good morning, Daddy, Mommy, Godfather!” Lexi greeted.
“Good morning, Lexi,” Linda replied
“Mommy, didn’t you say you weren’t sleeping in the same room as Daddy? Why did you sleep together last night?” Lexi asked, her curiosity bubbling over as they headed downstairs
Samson explained, “I had a cold during that time so couldn’t sleep with Mommy. We didn’t want Mommy to fall ill too. You wouldn’t want to see Mommy feeling unwell, would you?
Lexi shook her head.
