Chapter 213
The outcome was inevitable. Tom would not be acquitted, no matter how skilled his defense attorney was
His sentence might be reduced by a few years at best, but there was no escaping prison time.
That was why Linda wasn’t afraid as she attended the trial.
“Ms. Felix, I say Hannah just now,” Wendy mentioned
Linda wasn’t surprised to hear Hannah’s name. After all, it would have been odd for Hannah not to attend her father’s trial
“Is she already here? Linda asked
“Hannah might not make it, though. Apparently, she was invited to jodge a jewelry exhibition,” Wendy replied.
Linda and Wendy entered the courtroom and took their seats in the gallery. The lawsuit was filed in the company’s name.
Aside from Linda, William also appeared, arriving two minutes before the trial began.
“What brings you here?” she asked.
He replied, “I need to clear my name.”
Once the trial began, Tom’s attomey barely had a chance to speak. The legal team from the Felix Group was formidable, leaving tle room for defense,
The attorney addressed the judge, “Your Honor, the above is all the evidence we’ve presented. However, moments before today’s proceedings, I received an anonymous tip containing evidence of an unverified accusation against Mr. Felix by Mr. Wilson.”
The judge nodded. “I grant you the permission to present the evidence”
Linda recalled what Wendy had said about seeing Hannah. It seemed Hannah knew how the wind was blowing and understood what she needed to do to secure her future.
It was inevitable that Tom would lose the appeal. Despite his attorney’s best efforts, he only secured a brief postponement.
Among the evidence that Hannah submitted, apart from the documents involving William, the rest implicated Tom in matters involving grievous bodily harm.
With all the evidence combined, Tom’s fate was sealed. The final verdict didn’t come as a surprise to anyone–it was the death penalty.
Upon hearing the verdict, Lucy was completely out of control. She tried to lunge at the lawyer but was restrained by the court staff
“Aunt Lucy, there’s no need to get so worked up, Linda said as she approached the older woman.
She continued, “Some things are inevitable. Do you really think your words or actions could change anything?”
Linda stood in front of Lucy, “Aunt Lucy, I told you before that I will reclaim everything that you took from me. And now, I did just that.
“How does it feel to have spent all those years scheming only to end up with nothing? I’ve never experienced that before, so why don’t you share it with me? “What does it feel like to lose everything including Tom at the same time?”
At that, Linda laughed happily.
