Chapter 216
Chloe expressed her sincere gratitude to Luke.
“Don’t worry about it. As your teacher, this is part of my responsibility. Besides, my reputation is on the line if you embarrass yourself at a public event.” “Seriously, though, I’m surprised you’d show up at such a minor event, Mr. Hunter.”
Luke disagreed with her. “An event is an event, regardless of its prestige. What matters is whether it sparks my interest. If it does, I’ll attend or contribute my design, even if it’s for a less well–known auction.”
“You’re right. That’s more like your style. You’re never one to care about those things.” Chloe adored Luke’s way of working. It was unorthodox, but not in a peculiar way. Instead, it exuded a sense of refinement, like a nobleman raised in a wealthy family.
“How’s Linda doing lately?” Despite knowing Linda and Samson had gotten married with a kid, Luke was still interested in her. Love was unpredictable. Sometimes, it was hard to fall out of love with someone even if they were imperfect.
Chloe replied, “Linda is doing great. Her life can’t get any better, Mr. Hunter.”
“When did she get married? Why didn’t you know about it?”
Slurping on her spaghetti, Chloe didn’t think much and blurted out, “Because they got married and divorced later on.” Immediately after saying that, she realized her mistake and covered her mouth.
However, it was too late because Luke had heard her.
Usually, after work, Linda and Samson would bring Lexi out to play. Every time they returned from an outing, Lexi was particularly joyful. As parents, they indulged in nothing more than to see their children happy. Thus, they made an effort to spend more time with her.
“I feel like all the time we spent together became worth it once I saw how happy Lexi is,” Linda told Samson.
“Lexi has always been easy to please.”
Indeed, Lexi had always been a grateful child. As long as her wish was granted, she would always be cheerful.
“Mommy, Daddy, can you each hold my hand and lift me up?” Lexi requested after running to their sides.
Naturally, Linda and Samson had no reason to refuse. They each tugged at her little hands. To avoid causing discomfort, they grabbed her arms instead of her forearms and easily
lifted her in the air.
“Wow! I’m flying!”
