Chapter 236
Linda wasn’t trying to avoid William and indeed had a script meeting in the afternoon. Her focus was entirely on work now. The passion she once had for their relationship had long faded.
“Grandma passed away two years ago. There’s something she wanted me to give you. Since you returned, I’ve been so caught up in things that I kept forgetting.
“I just remembered when I went back to the old house the other day, so I thought I should meet you and give it to you. I couldn’t find the right opportunity to talk about it in your…” He paused for a moment, then continued, “In your and Lexi’s home, so I haven’t had the chance to give it to you.”
He still found it difficult to say Samson’s name aloud, or more precisely, to connect Samson’s name with Linda. After all, William and Linda should have been the perfect pair. William took out a box, revealing a high–end emerald bangle. Linda recognized it. She picked it up, glanced at it, and put it back.
“Take it back. It doesn’t belong to me,” she said.
The bangle was a different one. Linda had already received a similar one when she first married William, but…
“It’s from Grandma,” William insisted.
Linda smiled and looked at William with piercing eyes. “You know very well what this bangle signifies. It’s a gift for her granddaughter–in–law, but we can never be together.
“I received one before, but it was broken. When something that was once real becomes shattered before my eyes, everything that follows seems pointless.”
A broken mirror could never be fully restored. Even if the cracks were mended, they remained. Those cracks could drive a relationship to its end.
Linda understood this clearly. William, however, was still not ready to accept it.
“Take it back, William. I don’t want something that doesn’t belong to me,” Linda said.
Perhaps it was the years she spent abroad or the clarity she gained after facing death that made her see things more clearly.
Many people might think that as long as they were alive, everything could be restored, but that was not always true. Some people and things were destined to be what they were. The two of them shared the same quiet and distant atmosphere they had five years ago during their last meal together.
Before Linda left, William still insisted on giving her the bangle.
This time, she accepted it. “Send me an invitation when you get married. I’ll personally give this to the person it belongs to,” she said before turning and leaving. William was left with a heartache.
After Linda and William’s meeting, everything was settled. William signed the agreement for the variety show with Jessie.
The focus would be on Samson and Linda’s schedule, with William stepping in only when Samson was unavailable.
Due to the high level of interest, even before filming officially started, some details about the show had already been released.
The show was named “Traveling with Baby“. The focus was on the child, but the audience was more interested in the interaction process.
Jessie had previously worked on sports–themed variety shows with little success. Later, she followed a mentor into group and child–centric variety shows. She eventually found that she was best suited for shows featuring children.
