Linda hadn’t expected Luke to know about her and Samson’s past marriage, which ended after they successfully adopted Lexi 

“Yes, Ladmit what you said is true,” Linda said, trying to stay calm as she sipped her coffee. “So, who told you?” 

There were very few people who knew about this matter. It would be difficult to uncover such information quickly. 

When they arranged this, Samson had considered the potential impact on Linda’s life and kept the matter tightly concealed. Only a few people close to them knew Luke didn’t say who informed him, but Linda had a guess. 

“Luke, we will be good friends,” she said, but that meant they would only be friends. 

Linda didn’t believe she and Luke could become anything more. She admired him, but admiration and affection were not the same thing. 

“But I don’t want to just be friends with you, Luke replied. He didn’t want their relationship to be limited to friendship. 

Linda smiled, looking out through the large floor–to–celling windows at the street below. The once–barren trees had started to sprout fresh leaves. What was once desolate now seemed to be full of springtime vitality. It was as if everything was improving with spring’s arrival 

“But you know we can only be friends. Regardless of what my relationship with Samson is, we will always be Lexi’s parents 

“Even if I don’t plan to enter another relationship in the future, even if Samson remarries, our status as Lexi’s parents will never change.” 

“But I don’t mind,” Luke said seriously as it making a vow at a wedding “I respect that you and Samson are Lexi’s parents. It’s natural for you to stay in touch, and you are the company’s vice president.” 

He didn’t mind Linda’s interactions with Samson. 

“You still don’t understand what I mean.” She wasn’t saying he would be bothered by her ongoing contact with Samson because of Lexi. Rather, she understood that admiration couldn’t turn into affection 

“Linda, my feelings for you are my own business. I will pursue you regardless of your response. You live your life at your own pace, and my pursuit won’t change because of your rejection.” 

After saying this, Luke left the office.
