Chapter 330
Linda returned to Osmo with Lexi after two weeks. It was then that she discovered what William had done for her.
She called William “Why did you help me?
Willamseemed to have anticipated her call. “Not everything in this world needs a reason. I didn’t do this to get anything from you. I just wanted to make amends for my past
mistakes.
“Linda, I don’t want to intrude on your happiness. Like I said, I want to see you content without disturbing your life. Keeping this matter from you was my way of ensuring you cold live happily without ourside interference.
“You don’t need to thank me. I simply wanted to do something good for you to ease my own conscience.”
At that moment, Linda felt as though her heart had been pierced. Wiliam seemed to have truly come to terms with reality, or perhaps he was punishing himself,
“William, what you’re doing is pointless.”
Willam responded with a chuckle, “Then, tell me. What would be meaningful to you? Or do you think everything I do is pointless?
“I didn’t say that. It’s just your own interpretation. Linda looked through the documents in her hand. “I’m no longer the Linda who relied on her father’s protection to survive.
“I’ve grown up and can handle many things on my own. I don’t want to depend on anyone. I want to face and overcome all obstacles with my own abilities.
“Walam, you’re not entirely to blame. My own arrogance back then played a big part. I thought I could win your heart, only to realize I was mistaken.
“The situation we’re in now is the result of both our actions. Even though I lost that child, I don’t hold onto past resentments. Everything is a matter of cause and effect.” “she didn’t hold onto past resentments?” William thought
Unda was no longer lacking in love or inclined toward hatred. It was just the past to her now.
“If you believe everything is about cause and effect, then what I’m doing now is simply to make myself feel better.” William’s voice was gentle, almost tender.
His heart ached when he said this, just like when he saw a photo of Linda holding Samson online. It didn’t come in waves, but subtly. Yet, it was persistent and made him numb.
