This was an unexpected turn of events. Ida hadn’t anticipated William to be so harsh. 

Yet, William wasn’t done. “Ida, who do you think you are? Do you think I have to fulfill all your wishes?” 

“William, whether you would like to admit it or not, Ida is your savior,” Joanne said, trying to defend Ida. 

William laughed bitterly. “Mom, I remember everything now. Please use that to deceive me any more.” 

If not for Ida’s existence, he and Linda would have been the happiest couple. They would never have reached this point of conflict. 

The miscarriage of their child, who had been barely two months old, was another tragedy that Ida and Joanne caused. 

“Mom, I respect you, so I won’t lay a hand on you. If you keep insisting, I don’t think I’d hold back anymore.” 

After that, William dialed the internal line, and Jay entered his office. 

“Escort them out,” William ordered. 

Jay nodded and respectfully addressed Joanne and Ida, “Please, this way.” 

Joanne was furious and led Ida away. No matter what, she had spent many years in the circle of noblewomen. 

She was clear that no matter what, she couldn’t provoke William. Otherwise, they would live through hell. 

The Clay family wouldn’t support her, so she could only rely on the Wilson family. 

At the same time, Ida also learned that the longer Linda remained, the longer she would be in danger. 

Linda had to be dealt with, but Ida couldn’t act recklessly. If William discovered her plans, things would become even more complicated. She couldn’t afford to take such a risk.

always believed that William did not love Linda. 

She thought she could win William over, never once thinking that William would change and become terrifying after that fire.. 

“Don’t worry, I have a plan,” Joanne assured her. 

Then, she looked at Ida. “Your career is in your hands, so deal with it alone.” 

Ida’s eyes widened. “Mom, are you saying I seek Chloe’s forgiveness?” 

“Otherwise?” 

“I can’t do it,” Ida protested.

Over the years, she was long accustomed to the admiration and respect that came with leveraging the Wilson family’s status. 

She had forgotten her background. Humbling herself now was simply impossible. 

“Ida, I’ve helped you a lot with this. If you want to stay in the Wilson family, you need to handle this yourself.” 

Ida understood the weight of these words. She did not dare say no.
