Chapter 64
This was why Chloe wanted Linda and Luke to be together.
“You have to tell me what’s going on,” Linda urged.
“It’s just a heads–up. Lucy and Hannah showed up earlier, but the security got rid of them,” Chloe explained.
“Did it affect the exhibition?” Linda questioned.
“No, we caught them in time. Don’t worry, though. Everything’s fine on my end,” Chloe replied.
“Okay, but you should be more careful. I have some things to do now, so I’ll catch up with you later.”
After hanging up, Luke asked, “Do you need to handle something?”
“No, just some family drama,” Linda replied.
“Do you need my help?”
“Not right now.” Linda saw the brief flicker of disappointment in his eyes. She rarely encountered someone like him and didn’t want him to feel let down.
So, she added, “But if I do need your help, I won’t hesitate to ask since we are friends.”
Luke smiled brightly after hearing that
After a short walk, they returned to the exhibition. Chloe was discussing collaboration plans with several jewelry suppliers when they came back.
Linda was standing and watching behind Chloe. She could feel a swell of pride. “Chloe has really grown.
up.”
“Chloe has always been impressive. Or else she wouldn’t have gained such recognition in the academy.”
Luke stated.
There were no bad learners studying at Flomont Design Academy since the jewelry itself was not cheap.
Therefore, Chloe’s classmates were all talented and wealthy. Only those with talent could stand up among the students.
Linda was used to thinking of Chloe as a child, but she was already 23. She was no longer a little girl.
“Thanks for talking with me today. Linda said.
“It’s my pleasure to provide emotional support to someone I admire,” Luke replied.
She returned to the hotel alone as Chloe had other plans.
Just as she exited the car, a fist–sized object came flying toward her. She didn’t have time to react and
avoid it.
Lucy’s harsh voice reached her ears. “Linda, why don’t you go to hell? You ruined my family! You
should’ve died in that fire four years ago!”
Just when Linda thought she would be injured, a powerful force spun her around.
William had used his back to shield her from Lucy’s attack.
The security nearby quickly subdued Lucy.
The object thrown was a heavy, sharp–edged aluminum cube. It had caused multiple abrasions on William’s back, with one particularly deep wound that looked painful.
Linda found it hard to look at William’s injuries.
William paid no care.
