Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2826

“Sir, I need you to tell me the truth… You know Joan, don’t you?”

Although Dustin’s sincere tone caught the old man off guard, the latter chose to focus on his work instead of answering the question.

Seeing how unbudging the couple was, Dustin decided to do this the old-fashioned way. He forcefully took over the old woman’s task, hoping that the couple would soften up if he helped them with their work.

“What do you think you’re doing, young man? We don’t know anyone named Joan. You should inquire elsewhere,” the old woman urged.

However, no one could deceive an intelligent man like Dustin. So he exerted every bit of strength and patience he had to aid the couple in untangling their fishing net.

Abelyn had noticed this from afar. She couldn’t understand why Dustin took this approach, but she knew that he definitely had a valid reason for doing so.

She soon jumped in to help as well.

The old woman nudged her husband’s arm gently, whispering into his ear, “Darling, let’s tell them. They don’t look like bad people to me…”

The old man gave in after seeing the two youngsters going all out to help them. He couldn’t picture Dustin and Abelyn as bad people, so he nodded in agreement. If they’re really Joan’s friends, it’s probably wiser for us to tell them. Otherwise, who knows what dangers might befall Joan?

The old woman motioned for Dustin and Abelyn to stop working. She said kindly, “That’s enough now. Why don’t the two of you take a break? Come in and join us for tea.”

At this, Dustin immediately put down the tools in his hands and rushed over.

Once they gathered in the living room, the old woman began prepping the tea and explaining, “I’ll tell you everything I know about Joan, but the one thing I cannot say for certain is her current whereabouts.”

Dustin and Abelyn spent the next hour with their hearts clenched uncomfortably at the story of how this old woman came to know Joan.
