Matthew entered the room again to find Lucy tossing and turning in bed.
The sight of her put a smile on his face.
‘Lulu, I promise to love you for the rest of my life. It has been an honor meeting you, and I hope we’ll go the distance together,’ Matthew thought to himself.
He climbed into bed and went back to sleep, holding Lucy close.
…
Meanwhile, Hudson was still pondering the identity of the anonymous investor. He was checking online for more clues when the phone on the table rang.
Seeing the incoming call, Hudson hesitated to pick up, but he eventually did.
“Yes, Uncle Josiah?” Hudson’s tone was cold and subdued.
A deep voice came from the other end of the line. “Hudson, I heard you’re working with Leon Corporation.”
Hudson knew that this conversation was inevitable.
“Yes. Mrs. Leon has a remarkable talent, so I worked with Leon Corporation to sign with her, hoping that her work will benefit our company.”
A cold chuckle sounded. “Why didn’t you discuss this with me? How could you make decisions on your own and disregard me completely?”
Hudson heard the change of tone on the other end, but he was no longer the naive young man he once was. Taking a deep breath, he said nonchalantly, “I’m in charge of the company now, Uncle Josiah. All decisions are up to me.”
Upon hearing that, Josiah’s expression darkened, and he hung up the phone abruptly.
Hudson stared at the now disconnected call, lost in deep thought. He was determined to take charge of this matter himself!
