Chapter 40
Kage said nothing picking up a file before him. Lana wanted to scream, to hit her head against the wall, God, no! How could
- know about it!!
“Youre divorced” she leaned forward, her voice wavering now. “And we’re getting married. How can this happen?”
“She got pregnant before the divorce. I intend to keep her close until she put to bed, which is the reason we’re living together
for now.
“What are you saying?” Her voice rose a notch. “Are you seriously falling for her manipulations? You really believe she’s pregnant for you? How can you be so sure, Kage? Isn’t it obvious she’s trying to ruin things between us? How can you even trust
that whore?”
“Call her that one more time” He snarled
Lana flinched from his reaction. ‘She may be a lot of things, but I doubt Syivie would ever play the paternity fraud on me. I’m keeping her close until she puts to bed. And in the meantime, I do hope you can learn to suck it up”
Tears glistened in her eyes. One came rolling down, despite how much she tried to restrain them
She sniffled, wiping the tears from her face.
“This isn’t fair, you know! I’m not being treated right”
As she walked out the door, she remembered Sylvie’s words to her. You’ll finally get to know what I went through being married to him. Only difference is, yours will be for a lifetime.
Syivie had a smile on her face as she replied to Westley’s text.
Sure. Order the dessert as well. I’ll meet you up soon!
Her stomach was rumbling already, just thinking about lunch. She couldn’t wait to eat all manner of foods again.
And God, she was sleepy already.
Lancelot walked in, interrupting her peaceful moment. She rolled her eyes and began arranging her bag.
“You might want to go back out. I’m about leaving,” she said, not bothering to look at him.
“Really?” He chuckled. Im not sure about that.”
Syivie stood up with her bag. He was already in front of her desk.
“Sit down, Sylvie,” his tone was icy.
She gave him a ridiculed look. “I just told you I’m going out.”
“And I just told you to sit”
She glared at him, not sitting
Wearing a faux smile, he dipped his hand into his pocket, retrieving his phone. He tapped the screen a few times, then showed it to Syivie.
Her knees grew weak instantly as she collapsed to the chair, her eyes glistening while watching the video on the phone.
Lancelot laughed, withdrew the phone and tucked it back into his pocket.
A tear slid down Sylvie’s eye. “You asshole.
“And just in case you’re having any funny thoughts of snatching this from me, it might be wise to inform you that I have more than enough copies
Another tear came rolling down. Going closer, he whispered. “Turn on the blinds.”
י
What She looked at the transparent glass, and back at him. “What’re you…”
Don’t make me ask again.”
Her heart was beating rapidly. A lot of things didn’t scare her, but the footage on Lancelot’s phone was one of the things that did. She imagined Kage’s reaction if he ever get to find out.
With a shaky hand, she clicked on the button, pulling up the blinds. That was wrong. She wasn’t supposed to turn off her blinds during work hours.
“Such a good girl” he went over to stand beside her, running a finger along her cheekbone.
She pulled her face away from his touch, her face scrunched in
n disgust.
He smiled. “Tell me, Syivie, do you have nightmares? Of that night?”
“Why should I?” She snapped, baring her teeth. “It wasn’t like it’s my fault.”
“Oh, who’s fault is it, then? Who spiked the damn drink and set it down for him?”
You fucking used me!” She hit him in the abdomen, pushing him back. “Get away from me!”
He laughed. “Did P Ow. That must have been so awful of me.”
He tangled his hand in her hair, yanking it hard. She groaned out.
Touch my dick, Sylvie,” he said between clenched teeth.
Syivie looked at him as though, she could murder him. When she delayed, he tightened his hold in her hair. “Now”
God. She hated him, she wished she could punch him hard in the face. Maybe someday, she’d really kill him.
With disgust etched in her face, she forced her hand up to his groin. She could feel the hardness in it, it disgusted her.
He growled low in the throat, his head lifting up in ecstasy.
“What is going on here?” He stepped into the office, his voice icy.
Syivie kept her head low, unable to look into his face. She wished she was alone so she could cry.
“Oh,” Lancelot chuckled, going away from Sylvie’s table. “It’s nothing to worry about, brother. Sylvie and I were just…” he glanced back at her, then smiled. …talking.”
Kage, his hands in his pockets, clenched into fists. His gaze burnt into Syivie who was still not looking at him. Was she that guilty?
Finally, she met his gaze. And while his was angry, hers was scared and pained.
