Nine months too late: After divorce by Baby Charlene novel Chapter 48

Chapter 48
What you’re asking for is simply impossible, Westley, In my opinion, I think you’re asking for too much, Bennett groused, shifting uncomfortably in his seat “I really don’t see why you’re king this too far. Yes, Kage may have gotten the land from you, but don’t you think you should just let it go? Afterall, it’s to everyone’s benefits and as expected, you’ll be earning really high
Bennett was a member of the One Trillion Group and the last person Westley needed on his side for his plan to be set. He’d been able to get twenty one members, but Bennett was a very influential figure in the group, so he needed him as well. But the old man was being adamant.
He sighed, sat up and picked up the photos he’d displayed in front of Bennett. “I totally understand you. It’s fine if you don’t wanna side with me. I guess…” he arranged the photos in his hand. “… I’ll just have to show these to your wife.”
In the photos were Bennet and a younger lady in a foreign country. In one of them, they were walking down the street. In another, they were walking out of a mall. In others were pictures of them coming out from a hotel, and other places.
The lady was his mistress. He’d been taking her on trips without the knowledge of his wife, of course. And I’m addition, she was pregnant for him. If his wife were to learn about it, it was grounds for a divorce. And considering the factors surrounding his marriage, it was going to be a very messy divorce. He wouldn’t want that
Westley rose to leave
“Why are you doing this!?” Bennett bit out.
His hands in his pockets, Westley shrugged. “What I want is quite simple. You’d do the same if you were in my shoes, Ben, I simply want what’s mine.”
Bennett exhaled deeply, dropping his head. He and Kage had some sort of relationship, one he wouldn’t want to break. Kage had been really good to him, it was difficult doing this to him now.
“I need your answer, Bennett, Westley rolled his neck. “You don’t need to feel pressured. Just let me know should I leave? Or do we have a deal?”
Bennett was silent, his head still dropped.
Few minutes later and Westley was walking out of Bennett’s apartment with a smile. The man had agreed, and now, he had all he needed for his plan to be successful. He’ll take over the skyscraper project, and Kage will have no choice but to watch
Kage walked into the hospital, hating that he had to be there. He’s always hated hospitals but unfortunately…
When Lana had passed out at his place, he was forced to bring her there. He’d informed her family already, so they’d joined them not long after. But something came up, and he had to leave. Then they informed him minutes ago that Lana bad- regained consciousness which was why he was back there.
He was approaching her room when her mother, Rebecca, met with him.
“Why did you leave?” She asked with tears in her eyes.
Kage was silent.
“She woke up thirty minutes ago and wouldn’t stop asking for you. And she told us everything, Kage. You want to postpone the wedding? Why… Why in God’s name would you want to do that? What did Lana even do to you?”
Kage remained silent, his eyes searching the woman’s sorrowful face. She was on the verge of tears, and slowly, she dropped to her knees.

Sniffling. Rebecca stood up, straightening her dress.
“How’s she!” He asked.
“The doctor said she’ll be fine. She only passed out from shock.”
He nodded and walked past her, going into the room.
Lana was laying in bed, her sister beside her when Kage entered, followed by her mother. Her face was pale with her eyes having darker circles, but the moment she saw Kage, a light shun in those eyes.
“Hey…” she called feebly.
Lana’s sister-Chloe looked away, not wanting to see Kage. She hated that he was doing this to her sister, and she also heard that she couldn’t tell him to his face how disappointed she was
“How re you feeling?” Kage was standing beside her now.
Tll be fine.” She reached for his hand. Im glad you’re here.”
For the first time, Kage found himself feeling pity for her. He hadn’t really been fair to her. He wouldn’t say be actually loved Lana, but Lana had always been a great friend. From teen hood, they were pretty close the only female friend he had. If he were to chose a wife before Sylvie, it’d have definitely been Lana She was the only female that stood a chance.
But now, he’s changed, and he realized he hadn’t really been fair to her, for someone who had been his closest female friend
He rubbed her hand holding his, his face softening a smidge. “You should rest up. You need it.”
