He didn’t sound suspicious in anyway. He answered so casually, like he didn’t have anything up his sleeves.

Sylvie looked up at him. ‘Is anyone supposed to say something to me?’ she was tempted to ask, but she couldn’t be stupid

“Of course, not,” she shook her head, lowering her gaze to her plate. “You know, since you were the president of the Group. I was thinking you’d know something something helpful.”
“Why are you this concerned about him? No offense, I know he’s dead and I’m sad about it, but you didn’t really know Paul. Did you?”
Sylvie sighed. “I kind of knew him a little. He was a nice man.

When they finished from the restaurant, Sylvie was so full, she almost believed she wouldn’t need to eat for three days. But who was she kidding? In a couple of hours, she’d be hungry again.
“Can we go for a walk?” She asked as she and Kage exited the restaurant.
“A walk? Why?”
“Why do people go for walks, Kage?”
They reached the road where his car was parked. He didn’t know if it was safe to walk down a busy road with her at night, but he understood that Sylvie’s life use to be that normal before she got married to him and became pregnant.
So, he signaled his guards standing outside his car to follow closely behind them.
Sylvie was glad when her request was granted. She had a smile on her face as she walked down the beautiful road. It felt so unreal for a moment she being pregnant, taking a walk with the father of her babies like a normal couple. It was funny. And somehow, it hurt Sylvie that none of it could be real.
“You know you can stop trying to hide it, right?” Kage said.
“What?”
He glanced at her belly. “The bump. You always wearing oversized shirts and dresses to hide it. You don’t need to do it anymore.”
Sylvie’s checks flushed with embarrassment. Well, it wasn’t her fault, but she was so nervous about it. What would people think, seeing her, a divorcee, with a baby bump?

“Oh, really? Will that be when you’re too busy with work or your new family? Who knows, Lana might get pregnant in the first year of your marriage. You’ll be occupied with a new cute family.” She forced a smile.
“So, what? Are you tryna ask me not to yet married to Lana?”
Her eyes widened in shock. “Why would I do that!? Oh, please! You can get married to the world if you want. Afterall, I’m equally engaged
The smile on Kage’s face faded. “You need to quit talking about him when I’m here.”
She rolled her eyes but didn’t object.
They continued their walk, having a more peaceful conversation. By the time the walk was over and they’d gotten back to their car. Sylvie was a lot better. There was so much warmth in her heart, she began to wonder why she’d never seen this part of Kage
Returning to the house, Sylvie was surprised to find Lana in the living room. Kage wasn’t, because the securities already informed him the moment she came
She sat with her legs crossed, watching a movie, but as soon as she saw them, she stood up, wearing a big smile.
“Hey, babe” She went to Kage, hugging him.
Sylvie stiffened at the sight. She tore her gaze away as quickly as she could.
“Hey,” Kage had his hands around her waist. “How’re you doing?”
“I’m good. Tried calling severally, but your phone…
“Yeah, I was busy.”
Sylvie started for the stairs, not before she caught a glare from Lana, of course.

“Yeah, it’s nothing.”
Sylvie’s face crumpled in surprise. He got her presents!
When she was in her room- her safe haven she leaned against the wall, taking deep breaths.
God, what was wrong with her? They were engaged for f**k’s sake! Westley sent her gifts, so why couldn’t Kage do the same to Lana? She was overreacting.
Two days later, the members of the One Trillion Group called for a meeting. Kage knew it couldn’t be good, seeing they

All thirty-five members sat at the long table in the conference room, with Kage being at the head as usual. His eyes scanned them, taking note of the few people that intentionally avoided his gaze
“Ladies, gentlemen,” Westley began, leaning forward “Firstly, I want to appreciate you all for honoring this meeting. It’s all. thanks to Mr. Lahey Hawkins who founded this amazing group, and gave the members so much freedom to feel like they’re also the owners of the Group. Which is the reason today, we the members can call for meetings, express our concerns and get our needs met
“Mr. Lahey Hawkins also made this lovely rule that permits the thembers to head specific projects–
Kage released a low chuckle,
“–provided their records are clean. Oh, I really wish I’d been alive then to see Mr. Lahey, the members laughed. “So today. I’m coming up with a brave motion. I, Westley Harper, wish to take over the Skyscraper project”
