Nine months too late: After divorce by Baby Charlene novel Chapter 58

Chapter 58
Sylvie was deeply troubled and couldn’t focus on work. She tried calling the number that had texted her, but it wasn’t going through
As much as she was scared, she was curious.
“There’s something very important I must tell you. It’s about Kage, and you’re the only one I can trust. Paul’s note was imprinted in her memory.
This was her chance.
She placed a call to one of her friends, asking for her company. Thankfully, her friend agreed and they were on their way during her lunch time,
The address turned out to be Paul’s house
What did you say we’re doing here again?” Her friend – Vicky- asked as Sylvie rang the doorbell.
“It’s a business partner. But since I’ll coming to her place, I didn’t want to come alone.” Sylvie replied.
is the suicidal one”
“Wow. So, Vicky is
Sylvie chuckled. She rang the bell again. This time, the door opened..
A young woman stood at the doorframe, her eyes looking weary.
“Sylvie, she seemed relieved. “Please, do come in.”
They walked into the house, Sylvie taking careful steps and looking around. There were three children playing in the living room. – Paul’s kids. Somehow, seeing them made Sylvie relieved.
“How about we go into the study to discuss? My friend here will just wait for me,” Sylvie said.
She didn’t want the woman spilling whatever she had to say right in front of Vicky.
“Okay, okay. Come on, she angled her head.
She followed her to Paul’s study.
“D.Do you need anything?” She asked, clearing some of the scattered papers on the desk.
“I’m fine. I just want to talk about the text t you sent.”
Stacking her papers she gathered somewhere on the shelf, she took a seat, facing Sylvie.
“My name is Evelyn.”
Sylvie knew that already. The few times she’d spent with Paul, he always talked about his wife – how beautiful she was, kind, hardworking. She couldn’t imagine the pain the woman must be going through from the loss. Even her eyes looked heavy,
That night at the party, I should’ve been with Paul, but our little girl was sick. Perhaps,” she looked down at her nails. “If I had been there. Td have been able to save him. Maybe things would ve happened differently.” She sobbed.
Sylvie’s chest tightened even more Oh, God. She hated this. She didn’t want to cry.
“I don’t know. Sylvie,” she sniffed, wiping the lone tear thar’d rolled down and looking up at her. “Did he say anything to you at the party?”

Chapter 38
Her heart skipped more than a beat. She furrowed her brows, wagging her head.
“I guess he didn’t have the chance to say anything before they got him
Sylvie’s curiosity was piqued. “What was he supposed to say to me?”
She sniffed. “About Kage? Westley!”
Sylvie’s heart skipped a beat. What the hell was she talking about? Westley was involved?
“Paul and Westley were pretty close. They knew each other from the group but turned out to become closer than the rest. So, Westley shared more secrets with him. But recently, things started getting sour between them. One time, they were here in Paul’s study and a huge argument had broken out Westley left, really angry. But he returned few days ago, but things didn’t really change between them.
“I noticed Paul was worried most of the time. I’d ask him, but he’d tell me not to worry about it, that it was better I stayed ignorant to it all. Until one day three days to the party he opened up to me. He told me Westley was planning something huge in the Group. He was so worried when he spoke and claimed the guy was out of his mind and his methods were going to be disastrous
Sylvie’s heart was beating faster than it had been before she stepped in there. Air had suddenly abandoned her lungs, and she wanted to rush outside to grab some. But, her legs couldn’t move. Despite how terrifying Evelyn’s words were, needed to hear all of it.
she
“Paul said Westley needs him on his side for his plan to happen. He tried to talk to Wes, get him to change his mind, but Westley wouldn’t listen. Instead, he kept getting angry that Paul wouldn’t support him. So, Paul said he was going to tell someone about it. But the Group members were a mess. They were all betrayers. So, he didn’t really know who to trust. And he was scared that if he told Kage directly, it’d be more disastrous.
“So, he planned on telling you about it. He figured you were the good one and you’d be able to talk Westley out of it. Or, if Westley was aware you knew, it’d stall his plan. That was supposed to be the plan. But it turned out…” She sniffed again. dabbing her face. “It turned out Westley stopped him before he could get to you. Since Paul wouldn’t join, he felt he was at a risk of being exposed and had to take care of him. He killed my husband. My Paul” her voice wavered.
Sylvie’s throat was constricted. For several minutes, she just watched Evelyn cry, unable to utter anything. She couldn’t even think straight. All she could imagine was Westley being behind Paul’s condition at the rooftop the multiple stabs, the blood. How could he… How could he be any of that?
No. Her Westley couldn’t be that monster
Her lips quivered as bs spoke. “W…Westley didn’t leave the party hall at any moment. As a matter of f…fact, we were together the whole time, even before I left for the rooftop”
Evelyn chuckled, another tear rolling down her cheek. “What? You think he’d hide a knife in his suit? He’d excuse himself, go up there and get his hands b***dy himself? Of course, he wouldn’t do that. They always get the bad guys to get their dirty jobs done.
Sylvie’s heart was racing even faster now. “T. The police said they checked the cameras. They don’t see anyone suspicious leaving or entering the building”
“These people take care of things like that! They can do whatever they want, Sylvie
Sylvie’s own tears came rolling. God, she couldn’t raj this. Not Westley. He couldn’t be this person.
“But how her voice cracked. “How could he do that to Paul? What was so important to him?”
Suddenly, she remembered him talking about taking over the project. Could this have been it? He’d wanted Paul to help him. take over the project

Chapter 58
“Few days ago, Westley brought up a motion in the Group, asking to take over the project. But there’s been a little delay. Sylvie sniffed, wiping her face, “Was that the plan he had that made him kill Paul?”
“Of course, not,” Evelyn chuckled. “Paul told me about that already, and he was actually rearly to support him. The second thing Westley wanted – the very one that got Paul killed it’s bigger than that, something nobody in the Group will see coming” She leaned forward in her seat. “He wants to take over the Group completely. He wants Kage out of the way so the Group can be his”
Sylvie gasped, her hand covering her mouth in shock. She looked at the woman as though, she’d lost her mind.
“No.” She muttered, wagging her head
“Why do you think his plan was so powerful, it got Paul killed? That man is crazy, Sylvie. He keeps blabbing about wanting to do this for sometime now. He won’t listen. Fin afraid… I’m afraid something had is going to happen to Kage
