Nine months too late After divorce (Sylvie and Kage) novel Chapter 64

Chapter 64
Later in the evening, she had to reach the house to freshen up and get changed. But even she didn’t know if she wanted to spend a minute in that house. She was confused.
As she stepped out of her car and made her way in, a part of her prayed Kage would be gone. She wasn’t certain if she had the ability to face him in that moment.
But her prayers weren’t answered. He was climbing down the stairs when she entered.
Sylvie paused for two seconds, waved it off, then continued walking. She tried not to look at him.
“Where have you been? You weren’t at the office. He asked, just as she walked past him, going to the staircase.
The question struck a nerve in Sylvie who whirled on him!
“Yeah, you right. I wasn’t there, ’cause I was at the hospital with Westley!” Her eyes glared daggers. “You must’ve heard, right? He was involved in an accident”
Kage said nothing, his gaze sweeping over her. He turned away, walking to the wine counter. But Sylvie wasn’t ready to let it
go now
“How much do you know about his accident?” She asked from behind, her throat almost constricting with anger,
L
“What’re you talking about?” He didn’t turn to look at her.
“I’m talking about the fact that Westley got involved in a serious accident on his way to a meeting where he’d have probably gotten the highest votes. It’s quite convenient for you, Kage.”
He looked at her, the wine bottle in his hand. “What in hell are you insinuating?”
His face crumpled up. “Hold on, don’t tell me to think I had something to do with the accident, Sylvie.”
“Well, that’s exactly what I think. And it’s so disheartening that you could actually be such a monster.”
She turned away, heading for the stairs. Kage rushed over and grabbed her hand, stopping her.
“Listen to me,
I didn’t do it. I know it sounds convenient for me, but I’d never do such a thing, Sylvie. He could’ve died in that accident. You really think I’d be dumb enough to want to kill someone?”
“Well, I don’t know what to think anymore!” Her voice rang out. “All I know is, I keep making bad choices in men. And even the one I didn’t really have a choice in turned out to be bad! In am one hell of an unlucky woman!”
She snatched her hand away from his, taking four steps before she paused.
“When did you plan on telling me about Lana?” There was a lone tear on her cheek as she turned back to him.
His brows furrowed in confusion “She’s pregnant, yet you hid it from me.”
His countenance fell, the news taking him by surprise.
She chuckled, wiping her face. “I understand, Kage. I understand that she’s your fiancee and it’s totally cool if she’s pregnant for you. But keeping it from me and giving me some dumba** attitude, was it really necessary?”
He dipped his head “Sylvie, I
But she was gone. She ran up the stairs.

She couldn’t spend another minute in that house she concluded. So, she took some clothes and few essentials in a smal bag, then head downstairs.
Kage, who was already drinking was surprised upon seeing her with the bag.
“Hey…”
I’m leaving. I need to be with Westley. She wasn’t looking at him.
“Look, we need to talk.”
“There’s nothing to talk about. If you need a pregnant lady to talk to, call your fiancee. There’s nothing special about me anyway.”
She was heading for the door when he put his hand around hers, stopping her.
“Just listen to me!”
“On what!?” Sylvie yelled back at him. “On the fact that you had nothing to do with Westley’s accident or that you kept Lana’s pregnancy from me and Instead, chose to give me some dumb attitude?”
Her cheeks were red now,
Kage felt an ache in his heart. How could he tell her it wasn’t really about Lana but about the wedding shopping she’d gone with Westley? That had been whch he started acting cold towards her.
don’t think I wanna hear it anymore, Kage. Because I’m tired! I’m sick! You and I- there’s nothing between us apart from these babies. But apparently, they won’t be the only special things in your life anymore.”
She knew she shouldn’t he saying those words, but it hurt.
His hand was still around hers, and his lips moved to say something when the door opened, revealing Lana.
Lana stood there at the doorway, a polythene bag in her hands. Her smile faded when she found Sylvie and Kage together, in that position.
Kage was forced to release Sylvie’s hand, but his frown remained.
“Hey, babe. Is there a problem here?” She asked, sliding her gaze between Sylvie and Kage.
Lowering her head, Sylvie chuckled. And the next time she looked at Kage, there was more pain in his eyes.
“I should be on my way now. You’ve got company and I’m sure you’d want to spend some time with her.”
Kage’s lips parted to speak, but no words were formed. She turned and walked away, exchanging a glare with Lana
Sylvie was confused and didn’t know what to do. She went to an hotel, booked a room and rested did a while before going back to see Westley.
Her head ached, and so did her waist. She really needed a break from all these drama..
Five days later, Westley was discharged. Although, the doctor insisted he still spent some more time, Westley wouldn’t agree but kept insisting he was tired of the hospital.
He went home on a wheelchair, although he looked a lot better and would be completely fine in a week or two.
Sylvie went home with him, because he insisted he needed her company. He was holding her hand most of the time, and

when they reached home, she offered to prepare a meal for him
“You don’t have to worry about that. I’ll just have the chief make Westley opposed.
“The chefs weren’t with you the whole time at the hospital, Wes. Don’t worry, I’ll be back,” she said with a smile, her hand over her belly.
It was a habit she was becoming fond of. Putting her hand over her belly made her feel like she was protecting her babies, and they were safe.
Her bump was already visible, and if Westley’s family knew already, they hadn’t asked any questions. But she was sure his mother must have noticed and would be asking the questions soon.
Stepping into the kitchen, so many cravings flooded her at once. She checked the fridge and discovered a lot of cooked meals stocked up. God, she needed to eat something.
As Sylvie prepared her meal and that of Westley’s, she couldn’t help thinking about Kage. She hadn’t seen him since the past five days – hasn’t been home or at the office either. And it was a little surprising that he hadn’t tried to reach her.
Lana is with him. He doesn’t need you and the babies anymore’ that mocking voice kept telling her.
She laughed at some point – at the fact that she was there preparing a meal for a man who was likely a murderer, but at the same time, was almost killed in an accident by her ex-husband.
Worst choice in men, Sylvie. Worst choice.
She knew Kage had sworn his innocence, but she didn’t know who to believe anymore. Perhaps, being close to Westley now, here in his home, might provide her with some closure.
