Nine months too late: After divorce by Baby Charlene novel Chapter 66

Chapter 66
“So, what? You want her to stop coming over? I haven’t exactly stopped you from going over to Westley’s, have If
“Yes. And each time I mention his name, you snap at me! Like you’ve always been jealous!”
“So, what?” Kage chuckled. “Are you trying to say you’re jealous of Lana?” His voice was softer now. “You get envious cach time you see me with Lana? Is that it?”
Sylvie’s brows shot up in surprise. She scoffed, shaking her head.
“You’re unbelievable,” She muttered, walking away to her car, but Kage grabbed her hand.
Tm serious, there was a softer edge to his voice. In that moment, he didn’t look like he was arguing but asking a question.
It bewildered Sylvie even further.
“I’m serious,” he repeated. Do you hate it when I’m with Lana?”
She gave him a long stare, her heart pounding in her chest. Her mind reeled for words, words that were too heavy to get
out,
“How could I possibly hate it?” She yanked her hand away. “She’s always been there, you two are getting married and having a baby, I have no right to feel jealbus
She continued to her car.
“That doesn’t answer my question, you
know?
Sylvie didn’t spare him another glance. But once she was in her car and on her way home, a shudder coursed through her. She kept glancing at her rearview mirror, like she was expecting Kage to pop up behind her, to follow her. But he didn’t.
Reaching Westley’s home, she found him alone, watching TV. Although, there was a maid around
“Victoria left Sylvie asked, setting her bag down on the table.
“Yeah. She got called in for something urgent. Don’t worry, I’ve been fine.”
He was still on his wheelchair, but he’s been getting a lot better. That morning, he was able to stand on his own for five minutes. In a couple of days, he should be able to start walking the Orthopedist said.
She went over to meet him, taking his hand. “What would you like to eat?”
Westley smiled. His eyes rested on her belly, and he took his hand to it. Sylvie stiffened at the contact
“I really can’t wait, you know?” His eyes and hand was still on it. can’t wait for the day when you and these bunnies will be
mine.
Sylvie smiled, then stepped back. Having another man touch her belly in that manner made her feel oddly uncomfortable. Tll fix you something quick in the kitchen.” She attempted to leave.
Westley grabbed her hand, stopping her. “When I’m out of this wheelchair, you’ll marry me. Right?”
Sylvie’s throat went dry. She looked at him and forced her mask to stay back on. Why did that sound so wrong?

“Let’s make sure you’re better first, shall we?” She smiled, tapped his cheek, then walked away

As she got into the kitchen, her hand rubbing her tummy, she thought about the fact that she was the only one at home with Westley aside the maid.
Other days, his family or a friend was always around, and when they were alone like this, he’d be in his room. She wouldn’t have the chance to check his room. But today, there was an opportunity. And she was going to take it.
Lana was in her bedroom, eating some cocopops and scrolling through her phone, checking out pictures of more dresses she could use for her wedding
On that day, she wanted to wear as many designer dresses as she could. She wanted to look different in most of the pictures,
A maid interrupted her moment, informing her she had a visitor
Tm tired and can’t come downstairs. Tell them I’m sleeping,” she answered tiredly.
The maid left, only to return shortly. “He said he’s not leaning until he sees you, ma’am. He said to tell you his name is Lancelot.”
Apop nearly got stuck in her throat. Lana’s eyes widened in shock. What the hell!?
She pulled herself from the bed, her head spinning as she ran down the stairs and to the door in the living room. She opened it and found him out there, standing and waiting.
Her eyes flashed with fury.
What are you,
mad? How dare you come to my parents’ place!?
Lancelot eased, tucking his hands into his pockets.
“Well, forgive me for coming here when you refused to take my calls. How else was I supposed to reach you, Lana? Go on a radio station?”
“And why do you need to reach me at all? As far as I’m concerned, we have no Business together, Lancelot.”
“Oh, really? Well, I think you’re mistaken. You see, you and I, he pointed at her stomach. “I think we have something in
common.
Lana’s face turned red. She glanced around, stepped out of the threshold, and shut the door behind her.
“That’s it. You’ve gone mad,’ she said in a husky whisper.
“Why are you whispering, love? You don’t want your parents getting to
you’re pregnant for your fiance’s cousin?”
“What the heck are you saying!? How on earth am I…
“Four weeks ago, remember? At the hotel?”
Lana’s eyes widened even further.
“Ah, I don’t think I need to remind you. There’s no way you could’ve forgotten what happened. Remember the things you said? I think that night was quite spectacular to you.”
“I don’t remember nothing!” She snapped, glancing over her shoulder.
“Listen, and listen carefully,” she pointed her finger at him. “What happened that night was a one time mistake. I was drunk

and angry. We promised we’d never discuss it again.”
“Yea, but what we didn’t promise was you using me to make a baby and then, giving it to that d***d.”
“How are you so st**dly sure it’s yours? Kage and I are in a relationship! We have sex all the time!”
“Uh-huh,” he waved a finger. “That wasn’t what you told me that night. That night, you told me he hardly touches you and…”
“I told you I was angry! And even if I did say that, so what? I’ve had sex with him more times than I’ve had with you. Yet, you think your weak release somehow, will be better than his?”
He laughed, bringing his hand to rest on the wall above her head.
“Did you just say weak release?” His eyes searched hers. “Now, Lana, that’s one heck of a lie right there. We both know I was like nothing you’ve ever had.”
Lana continued glancing around, scared that someone might walk in on them. Her mum and sister were home.
She exhaled deeply, schooling her voice to be calmer as she spoke to him again. “When we finished, I took some pills to flush whatever you deposited in me. I’m telling you, Lancelot, you’re being a real a***ole over here.”
He tilted his head to the side. “Is that so?”
Lana looked away, and silence stretched between them for a while.
“Anyway,” Lancelot broke the silence. “I find the timing too inconvenient. I’ve seen too many stories like this, Lana, so I’m sure you wouldn’t blame me. The last thing I want on earth is that son of a b*h g****etting to touch my kid, thinking it’s his
Lana held his gaze but said nothing-
“So, I’ve decided. I’ll be going to meet Kage about this. I’ll tell him not to get his hopes high because the baby might be mine. We’ll all wait, and when it’s born, we’ll carry out a DNA and determine who the happy father is.”
Dread filled Lana’s eyes. It was as though, she wanted to retch.
She swallowed dryly, taking a step closer to him.
“Y… You can’t do this, her voice wavered. “We are… We are getting married, Lancelot. You know this. Our wedding is only in a week!”
“Oh, I have no intentions of ruining your wedding, honey. Don’t think I have any interest in a cheating girlfriend. I’m simply concerned for my child. Hopefully, Kage wouldn’t change his mind by the time I tell him about the baby.”
He turned away. Lana’s hands shot out, holding his.
“Please, stop this madness!”she was losing her mind. “Going to Kage, you’ll be telling him I cheated on him. And even if this baby is his, he’ll never forgive me!”
“Even if?” Lancelot’s brows furrowed. “So, you’re trying to tell me even you’re also not sure who this baby belongs to? For all we know, it could be mine?”
Lana bit down on her lip, realizing how f****d up she was. “I-I didn’t mean it that way,”
“Oh, but I think you did.” He laughed. “Anyway, I’m a gentleman, he pulled his hands away from hers. “Tll be giving you a chance to fix this mess yourself. Go to Kage, tell him what happened and I won’t have to do it myself.”
He stepped away from her. Lana’s heart had stopped working. “I’m giving you three days, honey. Three days or I’ll have to do it myself. And you should know me, I have a foul mouth. If Kage hears it from me, it’s going to be messier.”

He winked at her, then walked away.
Lana followed him, pleading along the way. But he got into his car and drove off.
