“She’s lucky I wasn’t there myself. I e sinacked her in the face before Kage in,” she had queried, causing Sylvie to. laugh.
When the call ended, Sylvie took a shower, changed into pyjamas, then left the room.
She walked down the hallway until she reached the door which made her pulse quicken. Taking a deep breath, she twisted the k**ob, getting the door open.
Her eyes beamed-like always-as she beheld the sight before her. Two cradle beds, a ceiling decorated with artificial twi*g stars, so many artful decorations on the walls and around the room.
A smile was on her lips as she walked in, enjoying the sight. She entered into the walk-in closet which was filled with designer baby clothes, shoes, purses and every needed baby adornment. Her kids were gone to have the very Best.
Kage had begun shopping for them since two months ago. After a scan that revealed they were expecting a boy and a girl- Sylvie’s biggest wish-Kage had been buying nonstop, even more than they needed.
Sylvie had tried telling him to take a breath, that the kids might not make use of all what he’s buying, but Kage wouldn’t listen.
Her smile broadened as she touched her round tummy. God, she couldn’t wait to meet them.
Everything was going too fine-too perfect, she was almost scared.
Her whole life, she’s never had it all. This would be the first time she’d be truly and completely happy. Why did she fear something might want to ruin it as always?
‘Stop it, Sylvie. Nothing is ruining it.’ she assured herself.
Lancelot who was the biggest pain in her a***was still in a coma, and though it might sound cruel, but she wished he’d stay that way.
She wanted this happiness to remain forever. And she hoped to God that it would.

The members of the Group waited in the conference room, slight mumblings passing round.
Westley was the most edgy. He wasn’t cool when Kage called for the meeting, and now it was taking him forever to arrive.
After winning the vote, he’d expected some sort of retaliation from Kage, but Kage had been strangely quiet, which was unsettling. And now, for the first time in four months, he was calling for a meeting.
Just when he had lost his patience and was about rising from his seat, Kage walked in. But…he wasn’t alone.
He walked in with some custom officers.

The members watched in bewilderment, exchanging glances with each other.
Reaching the table, the officers walked over to Westley’s side, presenting him with some documents.
“We’ll need you to come with us, Mr. Harper, We found these shipping manifests handled by your company, detailing smuggled goods into the country,” one of the officer reported.
Westley tried as much as he could to keep his mask on. He looked down at the documents without touching them, then lifted his gaze to Kage.
“Seriously? This is what you could come up with? I’m quite* disappointed.”
Kage, leaning against the wall with his hands casually tucked into his pockets c** his head. “Disappointed because you weren’t careful enough to ce cur tracks, or disappointed that it took me this long to fish it out? You’ll need to be specific.
Westley chuckled, lowering his head,
“Please, sir, we’ll need to go now. The custom officer pressed. “You’re free to call your lawyer and ask questions when we get to the station. But for now, wel need to go.”
Westley knew there was no resisting it, at least not in that moment.
His chest growing heavy, he stood up. His eyes glared daggers at Kage. “I’m sure you’re smart enough to know this cannot be the end. A won’t let you win, Kage. Not like this.
“I can’t believe even in this predicament, I am all you still think of,” Kage delivered the words with so much calmness like he was having a tea discussion with a friend.
Westley’s face contorted in fury. The son of a b***h.
Angrily, he let the officers walk him to the door.
“And just so you know,” Kage’s words halted him. “You seize to be a member of this Group. I’m sure you remember the rules. Westley scoffed. “That can only happen if I get convicted.”
“Oh, you will get convicted. Don’t think you’re miraculously getting out of this.”
“Sir?” The officer urged.
Westley’s nose flared as he turned away from Kage, then walked out the door.

Lana watched through the window as the car pulled over in the front yard. She exhaled wearily, closed the curtains and went downstairs in time to see her mother and aunts entering the living room.
Rebecca paused at the door, giving Lana a once-over. But Lana’s steps didn’t falter as she descended the staircase.
“Welcome home, mum,” she spoke with the enthusiasm of a kid getting ready to meet the doctor.
She walked over to the wine counter, filling a glass,
Rebecca’s gaze was still on her as she fully entered the house.
“Lana,” her voice was cold. “You know you don’t have to pretend to be happy to see me.”
Lana scoffed. “And why will I not be happy? Jail isn’t a good place for anyone.”

“You need to stop being a brat. Why have you chosen to distance yourself from your mother?” One of Rebecca’s sisters asked sternly.
Lana glared at her, then rolled her eyes.
“Look,” she added more wine to her glass. “I’m sorry I was away, okay? But as you can see-” She pointed at her slightly big

She turned away, facing the wine counter.
Rebecca looked at her with disbelief.
“Come on, let’s go.” Her sister whispered beside her, touching her arm. But Rebecca didn’t make a move.
