Nine months too late: After divorce by Baby Charlene novel Chapter 97

Chapter 97
She scanned her eyes around the room for any sign of danger, but the room looked clean enough. Her mind flashed to the pepper spray she had in her bag. She’d brought it in case the son of a ***h decided to try something s****d.
“I hope you didn’t have a hard time coming here?” Lancelot asked as he shut the door.
The click of the door filled Sylvie with cold dread.
However, she held her head high as she faced him. “I hope this doesn’t hurt your ego, but I’d rather not be here, Lancelot. So, if you don’t mind, please tell me why I’m here.”
A smirk was his reply – typical him.
He sniggered, going to pour himself a drink on the table.
“You know, it felt like I’d been asleep for ten years,” he said with ease as he poured wine into his glass. “But thank goodness, not everyone seemed to have moved on.”
Holding the glass in his hand, be leaned on the table, his gaze pinned on Sylvie as he took a sip..
“Who would’ve thought that you and Kage would ever get along?” He shifted his eyes to her bump. “I understand you being pregnant for him, but letting him love you?” His eyes darkened as he dragged them back to her face. “Don’t you feel even a smidge of guilt? How can you be with him, knowing what you did?”
Sylvie’s eyes glistened, revealing both anguish and hatred.
“Are you really this b**, honey?”

“You’re despicable,” she ground out. “YOU did it, Lancelot. You’re responsible for what happened. I was only used by you!”
“Seriously?” He scoffed. “You wanted revenge on the a***le and I helped you achieve it.”
“You never told me it was Nuxine! You lied to me!”
“Well, we both didn’t know Marilyn would be the one to drink it, did we?”
“But it doesn’t change the fact that you lied to me! If I had known it was something as dangerous as Nuxine, I never would’ve gone along with it.”
“Well, it doesn’t change the fact that you injected it into the drink yourself, Sylvie.”
His lips curled up in a smirk. “You can keep defending the truth with you flimsy excuses, but it doesn’t change the fact that at the end of the day, you’re guilty.”
Pushing away from the table, he moved towards Sylvie until he was standing before her.
“What do
you
think Kage would do when he learns it was you who had injected Nuxine into his drink? You wanted to harm him but ended up killing his sister. Do you think he’ll believe you’re innocent even when you injected it yourself?”
He pushed the edge of the glass against her lips, wanting her to open up and have a taste. But Sylvie pressed her lips firmly, a hot rush of fury running through her.
She wished Rebecca had done one thing right and succeeded in killing him back then. A world without him would’ve been a much better one.
Seeing thad she wouldn’t drink the wine, Lancelot chuckled and walked away, returning to the table,

Chapter 97
She scanned her eyes around the room for any sign of danger, but the room looked clean enough. Her mind flashed to the pepper spray she had in her bag. She’d brought it in case the son of a b***h decided to try something st***id.
“I hope you didn’t have a hard time coming here?” Lancelot asked as he shut the door.
The click of the door filled Sylvie with cold dread.

“What do you Lana?”
want?” Sylvie’s voice dripped with venomous hate. “Do I have to wait for you to expose me like
you
did with
“Well, it doesn’t really have to happen that way, you know?” He emptied the wine, the set the empty glass on the table. “If you cooperate, this could stay buried like it’s been for the past ten years.”
“What do you mean cooperate?”
Lancelot crossed his arms, giving her a head-to-toe stare. It felt too accessing to Sylvie and made her skin crawl.
She’d made sure to appear decent before coming. Her dress was long and big, with long sleeves. No part of her body was sexually exposed. Yet the b**rd still made her uncomfortable.
When he started coming toward her for the second time, she shifted on her feet.
“Do you remember how fun we used to be in high school?” His voice softened deceptively as he stood before.
He lifted a finger to her face, trailing it down her cheekbone. It filled Sylvie with nothing but irritation.
“Fun? All I know right now is that it was the worst moments of my life, Lancelot.” She rose her brow.
As usual, Lancelot found her response amusing. “Are you sure? Because you kind of chose me over Kage.”
“Kage was my bully, then. I had no reason to like him. However, if I had known there was an ugly monster hiding beneath your st**d mask, I’d have kissed him right in front of you.”
He laughed – a deep low rumble.
His finger moved to her lips, and this time, Sylvie jerked away.
“I’ve always loved this about you—your fire.” His eyes crinkled as he smiled. “Why do you think the other boys and I stepped back and stopped picking on you? We came to terms with the fact that you could just never be intimidated. And it was at that point, honey, that I fell for you.”
He reached for her jaw, his fingers grazing it.
“What I want is quite simple, you see? I only want us to do the things we both enjoyed back then. You know,” his finger moved to her neck. “when you used to be mine. You haven’t forgotten so soon how good your first time was, have you, Sylvie? You bled around my c**
Her eyes glistened with unshed tears, his words making her realize how s***id she had been. How could she had given her body to someone like him? Even Kage back then, despite being her bully, was a far better option.
Lancelot chuckled. When a tear slipped her eye, he wiped it off with his finger.
“You should save those tears for when we’re in bed, you know?” His eyes fell on her bump. “I promise I won’t hurt them.”
Sylvie couldn’t resist it any further. Her hand reached out, slapping him hard in the face.
His head reeled to the side, his eyes darkening.
Sylvie stepped further away from him. “I already hate myself for letting you touch me ten years ago. Right now, even if I were drugged, I’d never let you do it again.”
Her chest heaved with anger. She walked past him, starting toward the door.
“If I were you, Sylvie, I wouldn’t open that door.” Lancelot’s voice was frosty now.

She stopped in front of the door, turning to look at him.
“I refuse to be your sl***e again. Go ahead – do whatever you want because I’ll be never be with you, Lancelot, even if there’s a knife to my throat.”
She gave him a once-over. “The mere sight of you disgusts me. And when you touch me, it makes my skin crawl.”
Lancelot’s expression darkened. This time, he didn’t find her wit amusing. Well, Sylvie didn’t care.
She opened the door and stormed out of the room.
The son of a b***h! She had not regret over what she did. For someone like Lancelot, there was no point trying to beg him because his heart was as hard as granite. He was a greedy b***rd who was only con***ed about what he wanted and would never show mercy even if she was on her knees.
But despite the bravery she’d displayed, it didn’t mean she wasn’t scared. Lancelot had no reason to keep her secret anymore. He could reveal it to Kage any moment.
Sylvie shuddered at the thought of Kage knowing what she did. She might end up losing him forever.
A voice screamed at her to tell him herself. Perhaps, it’d be better he heard it from her than Lancelot.
So, with tears rolling down her eyes as she drove home, she made up her mind. She was going to tell Kage about it.
