"Sure, you go ahead. Sasha said she's coming over to keep me company today. She bought a lot of things for the baby. She's really going above and beyond as a godmother. I just wonder when the godfather will step up," Clara said, a hint of amusement in her voice.
Ian chuckled, gently ruffling her hair. "Chase hasn't caught her eye just yet. He's got some dirt on him that Sasha's holding over his head."
Clara looked up at Ian, curiosity in her gaze. "Are you keeping something from me? Every time their names come up, you have this look. Don't tell me Chase is up to no good behind Sasha's back?"
"It's something like that. But let's not get involved. Their personalities need more time to mesh. Like us, they have to go through some trials to see the rainbow. Nothing can separate us now."
He caressed Clara's brow, his eyes filled with an undeniable affection. The trials they had faced hadn't driven them apart but had brought them closer together instead. Their bond was now as solid as a fortress, unbreakable by anything.
Clara stood in front of the bathroom mirror, watching her reflection and noticing her increasingly rounded figure. She watched Ian care for her attentively, her lips curving into a smile involuntarily.
The happiness she felt was indescribable. The fruit of their love was due to arrive in just over two months. She was eagerly anticipating that day.
Meanwhile.
Sasha had bought a plethora of items for Clara and the baby. There were two large boxes full of things, and she couldn’t possibly carry them all by herself.
Just as she was worrying about this, her assistant called, saying she was on her way to deliver something.
