Nobilis of War novel Chapter 1404

The crowd waited with bated breath for the result to be revealed.

Swish! Swish!

Suddenly, the two remaining rays of light began fading,

revealing both Finley and Sandy at the same time.

"Hey! The result is out. Go and have a look." The crowd swarmed over and surrounded the two of them.

Darren followed behind as well, flying over to join the rest.

He was in no hurry to ask anything. He was more interested in getting the rule cultivators to help Finley and the woman heal their wounds first.

A moment later, the two pale faces that came out of the light had somewhat recovered.

"Congratulations!" Finley said to Sandy, the first to speak.

That made it clear enough; Sandy was obviously the one who was to obtain the inheritance.

Sandy, who the general public did not know, looked in her twenties, pretty and petite, like a pretty girl from a modest family.

"Finley, Darren, you two are really quite powerful," Sandy said with a sweet smile stretching across her face.

"Ha-ha, congratulations to you, Sandy." Darren did not regret not being the one to get the inheritance. On the contrary, he was happy for this stranger.

"Thank you, Darren. I actually only completed it three thousandths of a second earlier than you and Finley. If I had known how close it was, I would not have worked so hard, so that one of you could have taken control of the relic," said Sandy kindly.

Everyone sighed to themselves when she spoke. Not only was this woman so talented, but she was humble as well. Such a person was truly a rare find.

"Sandy, you're quite superior to us. We are both incredibly happy for you and your achievement," Finley replied with a kindly smile of his own.

"Ha-ha, well then, I will say no more. Please, everyone, step back. I feel the force of control coming," she said, her smile fading ever so slightly as she seemed to be refocusing to take the incoming power.

Everyone offered their final congratulations before stepping aside as she had asked.

After so many life and death battles, they could finally relax. They sighed as relief washed over them the way it did to survivors.

Darren too fell back with the crowd, looking back at Sandy before he did. As his eyes met with hers, his heart inexplicably skipped a beat.

'Why is there a trace of cruelty in her eyes?' he wondered. A sense of uneasiness crowded his mind all of a sudden.

It was this inexplicable feeling that led him to release his spiritual sense to investigate Sandy and see what it was that was bothering him.

"Darren, get back. Hurry up, I'm afraid you'll accidentally be hurt by the force of control when it descends." Sandy's face was always covered in a warm smile.

"Alright. You'd better be careful too," Darren replied, nodding slowly. He turned his head slightly, pretending to look away, but he kept watch on her from the corner of his eye.

Right at that moment,

he noticed a trace of black smoke in her bright eyes!

'Fiendish aura!' he screamed to himself. Darren's heart stopped beating for a moment.

It was no wonder his spiritual sense found nothing unusual. Was it possible that Sandy was in fact a fiend?

With this in mind, Darren secretly mobilized the demon core and conjured a wisp of dark fiendish aura that wrapped around his fingertip.

"What?"

With eyes like those of an eagle, Sandy immediately spotted it and sensed the fiendish aura coming from Darren.

Darren turned his head and smiled devilishly and said, "You stole a march on me to accomplish it, but you have made a great contribution here."

As he spoke, his palm was demonized, covered with the black fingernails unique to the fiend race.

Sandy's face suddenly turned cold, a stark contrast to what it had been this whole time, her aura changing as well. "I can't believe it. You're from the same race as me? Who is your master?"

"That is none of your concern, what is, is taking hold of the inheritance. With that you will be able to kill the great masters of the human race. When you make your great contribution, can you count me in?" replied Darren.

"Not a problem. Seeing as you've been lucky enough to survive to the end and almost obtain control yourself, it seems you deserve some credit."

"Thank you. I wish to stay and bear witness to the miraculous moment when you become the controller. May I?"

"As you wish." Sandy cared little for details as she could feel the force of control about to descend on her.

Boom! Boom!

A tremendous pressure suddenly crashed down.

A mass of faint yellow light condensed into the shape of a cloud, hovering around the void.

Then, like little raindrops, wisps of faint yellow light fell and merged into Sandy's body.

"Our race is very fortunate to have a genius like you among us," Darren said loudly.
