One Day, I Woke Up A Werewolf novel Chapter 34

Hailey's POV

The day started off perfect..

With Jaxon's romantic gestures, the proposal and now we were headed back to his pack, for another surprise. He said this one needed his entire pack to be attendance....

A wedding? Perhaps.. I would have liked to plan my own thing but I know Jaxon can do a good job with all the help at his disposal. The car slows down and we see that some houses plus some buildings were on fire, hearing screams that go on for miles and Jaxon jumps out of the car, running towards the screams as he shifts midair in to his big wolf.

It was something of a movie how he just ran off. In my head, everything happened in slow motion... kind of majestic, magical to see him shift as he runs. Something really cool.

Caiphus looks at me, eyes in alarm.. His wolf begging for a shift as his eyes flicker from one color to the next and back.. I nod my head for him to go and he runs out, just like Jaxon, shifing in to his wolf.

I step out of the car to undress like a normal person and shift calmly, unlike the others.. They are good at this and I can never see any of them becoming shy from being naked in public but for me, as I once was human, shredding clothes I will need later seems a little crazy to me.

"Oh you don't need to do that. I have you where I want you.. let's skip the shifts and the snap, crackle and pops.." Stacy says to me. I feel my body grow cold as her eyes.

Stacy was not supposed to be here. My father said that she was locked up and that I was safe... I was so relaxed. I had forgotten about her for a minute and I trusted my dad... I thought I'd be safe and now....

She looked about the same, hair in place and dressed head to toe in somebody else's money.

"I thought about this you know, if I should come back to the pack and ask for forgiveness, your dad would pardon me if he takes in to account the history we share and I can be your new mother! I mean once again I have to deal with you, just can't seem to get rid of you.... but your new daddy rejected me, multiple times and even locked me up! Even after I told him that I will find a way to like you but I guess he saw right through my lie and well, here we are." She says to me. Voice a little to chipper for my liking but I guess she was about to get her way with me....

I get dressed quickly as she talks on and on, using that moment to cover up and hopefully in time, have Jaxon return to me.

"What do you want with me Stacy?" I ask trying to stall.

"I want to kill you. With you dead, your father will be all mine and I can be the luna of our pack. I know it is unheard off but before you, I was in the running for that position... you killed all of that and now I am here to correct things." Stacy rants. My heart leaps from out of my chest in fear... 

"You do know I am mated to an alpha right? I will be luna of this pack soon so you won't have to worry about me.." I say and she laughs at me.

"Why do you think your father is still here? To watch her daughter mate for the first time? Don't be silly. He is here to secure his daughter's alpha status by bringing the two packs together and there is no way I would allow that, not after all my hard work." She says to me before pulling me by the hair and dragging me away from the car and in to the woods.

I feel Adira get annoyed, her anger taking over me and before I know it, my wolf has pushed me back and she takes control. Punching Stacy with brut force, she goes flying but lands on her feet a few feet away from us. Growling at me, she charges for us and Adira quickly shifts in to her wolf and runs in the same direction.

My panic rising as we approach a fast running Stacy, who seems to be quite angry... happy to be watching and not participating because I would not know what to do, even after the many combat training and exercises, danger just brings out the sheer dumbness in me as I freeze every damn time.

A wolf jumps in front of us, barring her teeth at an angry Stacy. Adira stops running, giving me back the controls and we shift back, kneeling on the ground because... we are naked.

The two wolves fight, biting in to each other but our savior wolf gaining the upper hand with each blow until Stacy is on the ground, bleeding out. They both shift back in to human form, Stacy still on the ground but quickly healing already.

The wolf that saved me shifts back in to the one person I never thought would ever come to my rescue..in fact, I had always believed she would be one of the people to kill me if I was ever to be killed but here she was, fighting Stacy to keep me alive.

Azuri has just saved my life, knocking Stacy out and dragging her away from me, she leaves me alone to collect my thoughts. I watch her disappear with Stacy in tow, never looking back at me.

I stand up, having shred my clothes, I had no choice but to walk back to the car and hopefully find something to cover up and pray that I don't bump in to anyone on the way, looking for me. 

The walk isn't long and I get to the car.

The screams have stopped and all I can hear are grunts, growls and whines coming from straight ahead. I jump in to the front seat, happy that Caiphus had left the keys in the ignition and I start the car. I drive past many houses, most of them torched or still burning and people crying or hugging each other with relief. They look on to the car that drives past, thankful that my body is well hidden, I drive on.  I keep driving hoping to find my father or Jaxon, anyone really that I can feel safe with... even my beta.

I feel my insides twist at the thought of Cayden... I was worried about him. I arrive at the house, everyone just standing there in a circle. I see Azuri in that circle, nobody turning to face me as the car approaches until I open the door and they all turn to look at me, Jaxon looking at me in horror before running up to me.
