Chapter 1041
The way Cedrick spoke to her was sweet and mild.
"You're so superior and commanding, Mister CEO. Why can't I come?" Catelyn teased as she raised her eyebrows.
Cedrick glanced at the huge stacks of documents Catelyn had placed on the table and roughly knew what happened. He recalled that no one informed him about Catelyn's arrival, so he called the internal line and asked, "Who's the administrative secretary on duty today?"
"Please hold while I check,” came the trembling voice of a female.
Several seconds later, the general secretary answered, "It's Yoyo. Is there anything else I can help you with?"
"Ask her to receive half a year's wages from the finance department and not to come in anymore from tomorrow."
Decisive with absolute power that denied anyone's rebuttal.
The secretary was stunned. 'Missus Mason is here, so why is the CEO still being fussy? He's even sacking people now! Goodness, this is definitely the worst way to enter a new year!'
"Wait." Without waiting for the secretary to answer, Catelyn snatched the phone from Cedrick with her long, slender fingers and said, "He's just kidding with you. You don't have to tell Yoyo that. Let her continue showing up for work tomorrow."
"What?" The secretary was bewildered. 'So is Yoyo being sacked or not? Who should I listen to?'
She did not dare to follow Catelyn's instructions. Thus, the woman on the other end of the line gathered her courage to reconfirm with Cedrick.
Cedrick lifted his head to look at the woman who snatched the phone from him. He tapped his feet and slowly moved his chair near the windows. The ray from the sunset shone on his figure, making him seemingly glistening in gold.
Instead of answering, he merely pointed at his lap for Catelyn to sit on.
Catelyn shook the phone.
Reverting to his steely disposition, he spoke to the phone, his voice darksounding, "Didn't you hear what she said? Continue your work. Forget what I said about Yoyo."
Catelyn smiled smugly upon hearing this. Just as she hung up the phone, however, Cedrick pulled her by the waist, and it took only two steps forward for her to stumble and fall onto Cedrick's lap, sitting on him.
Coincidentally, it was exactly the spot Cedrick was pointing at. A sigh came from above her head. She could also feel vibrating in his chest when he talked, "Why didn't you tell me you were coming?"
'I can't do spot checks if I inform you!" drawled Catelyn.
"Check on me?" Cedrick squinted his eyes meaningfully. "What do you want to check?”
