Chapter 111 Scapegoat
Emily glanced back. Logan Morgan was still sulking, and Grace was quietly saying something to Sophia, apparently instructing her about something.
Emily reminded herself to be cautious. They might be discussing a new plan to deal with her.
Ring ring ring—
She received a text message: [Keep your distance from Sophia — Satan]
Emily glanced at it, nodded, and put her phone away.
Sophia also noticed it, lightly teasing, "You must have quite a charm. Jackson just left, and you're already getting texts from him?"
Emily gave her a cold look, her expression unchanged. "It's none of your business."
Sophia lowered her gaze, looking at her belly, her tone softening. "Emily, I was too impulsive in the haunted house earlier. I haven't treated you well, and I apologize."
"No need. I don't accept that apology."
Emily became wary. Sophia, who had just been hysterical, suddenly apologized; she must be planning something.
Sophia's demeanor completely changed. Her plea carried a hint of grievance. "Emily, you're a woman too, you should understand me. My husband tries to betray me, and I can't control my emotions. I'm pregnant, and my temper is a bit erratic. I'm trying to control it, but sometimes I lose control. Emily, I'm not asking for your forgiveness; I just want to ask you, could you stay away from Nathan? Don't you have a new man now? Can't you give up on Nathan?"
So she apologized for this?
Emily chuckled coldly. "I'm not interested in Nathan. Let me emphasize again, you now have a stepfather and a brother. Don't come and harass me and my family in the future."
Sophia smiled faintly and remained silent.
Entering the haunted house again, they had both adapted to the eerie atmosphere and dim lighting, so they didn't feel particularly scared.
However, Sophia was wearing high heels, causing her to stumble awkwardly. Emily focused on finding the switch while occasionally hearing Sophia's gasps.
"Emily."
Emily ignored her.
"You are pregnant too. Are you having severe morning sickness? I've been throwing up every morning recently. Even the smell of seafood makes me nauseous."
Emily had reached the vampire room and was diligently searching for the switch.
Sophia continued talking behind her. After realizing it was pointless, she gradually quieted down.
Sobbing—
The crying sound came again.
Sophia was startled. She rushed up and grabbed Emily's hand, her face full of fear. "Did you hear that? Someone was crying just now."
