Chapter 65 The First Time
Emily furrowed her brow and whispered, "I... I don't know. The doctor said..."
"This young lady is indeed pregnant! Absolutely!" The doctor in charge of drawing blood stepped out, pointing to the test report in her hand. "Look here, this HCG index is a clear indication of pregnancy. There's no mistake."
"W... What?"
"HCG, human chorionic gonadotropin. Your HCG level is over twenty, indicating you're about five to seven weeks pregnant. We need further examination to confirm the details."
Five to seven weeks?
She had only known Mr. Satan for a little over a month, maybe less than two.
"Thank you, doctor. I'll take her for further examination."
The doctor nodded, somewhat surprised, and glanced at Mr. Satan. "Forgive me for asking, but is your face... I mean no offense, but our hospital has excellent dermatology and plastic surgery departments. If needed, you can consult them on the second floor."
Mr. Satan paused.
He neither confirmed nor denied, just smiled faintly, maintaining his gentlemanly demeanor. "Alright, thank you."
Emily looked up at him, and Mr. Satan casually told her, "Don't look at me, watch your step."
The obstetrics and gynecology doctor had changed; it wasn't the same one who had treated her for fallopian tube blockage. This time, it was a female doctor in her thirties who appeared very professional.
"Emily Carter?"
"That's me," Emily nodded.
The female doctor glanced at her, didn't say much, and professionally explained the detailed examination results. "You're indeed pregnant, a little over five weeks. Your baby's condition is good, with all indicators normal. There's no need to worry."
Emily was both happy and flustered.
In the four years of her desperate marriage, she had hoped for a miracle countless times. She wished Nathan would come home, and she would get pregnant. But every day's wait ended in failure.
This pregnancy came unexpectedly, without any psychological preparation. Emily found it hard to calm her emotions for a moment.
The doctor seemed to sense her unease and reassured her, "How old is your husband?"
"Huh?" Emily didn't expect the doctor to ask that and was a bit puzzled.
"Or does your husband have any medical conditions?"
Emily was bewildered.
The doctor shrugged, "Seeing your expression, I thought your husband might be older or have some illness, making it difficult for you to conceive, especially since you're still young."
Emily sighed with relief, "He's probably a few years older than me, and he's very healthy."
"Very healthy?" The doctor's smile held a hint of meaning.
Emily blushed, feeling embarrassed. "He really wants children, but I've taken birth control pills. So, finding out about this pregnancy was quite unexpected..."
"Birth control pills?" The doctor's expression turned serious. "Have you taken any other medications or received any injections recently? It could pose a risk to the fetus. I need to understand everything before I can fully assess your health."
