Chapter 171: It's My Son

Seeing Mariana's expression, Leopoldo knew exactly what was on her mind and kept quiet.
Gently grasping the cup, he lifted it and leaned forward slightly and spoke in a cool voice:
-Congratulations.
Looking at him, Mariana finally clinked her glass with his.
Their gazes met and then parted as Mariana finished her glass of red wine.
Finding a job was a success for Mariana.
He picked up his glass looking at Leopoldo's empty glass and got up from his seat, approached him and poured the wine.
Soft black hair brushed his hand and Leopold's eyes rested on the hair.
However, Mariana knew nothing about it, the red wine was poured for Leopoldo before she returned to her seat and poured another half glass to herself.
These wines from Leopoldo's collection were no ordinary products, high-end but very strong.
Soon Mariana was drunk, looking at Leopoldo, not seeing very well.
He reached out his hand and shook it, his body trembling more muttering faintly:
-Why are you moving?
Leopoldo's eyes fell on Mariana and he saw the woman's cheeks flushed crimson and her eyes narrowed, completely different from her usual cold appearance.
At that moment, Mariana stood up holding the table with one hand and the bottle of red wine with the other, and staggered towards Leopoldo.
Moving closer, she leaned over and looked at him closely, her eyes misty and her voice hoarse,
-You see? Even though many design firms were afraid to hire me because I had offended Ms. Solis, I got a job!
The smell of alcohol approached Leopoldo.
"If you can't drink, don't drink."
He wanted to take the bottle from her, but Mariana dodged him by clutching the bottle of red wine between her arms tightly, staring at Leopoldo,
-What are you doing? Are you trying to take my son away from me? He's my son! He's mine! It has nothing to do with you.
She didn't speak very clearly because of the confusion in her head, but Leopoldo heard them anyway.
Looking at the drunken woman, he said in a cold voice:
-You're drunk.
It was a scar on her heart, tormenting her day after day and she still remembered it clearly.
Walking over to Mariana and holding her gently in place, the strength of Leopoldo's hand grew as the woman struggled.
-Don't move.
However, the drunk was not going to obey, clutching the bottle in her hands and pushing Leopoldo who was approaching her:
-Get away from me, don't you know that when I'm near you, I get bad luck? Nothing good has happened.
The words were direct but not so aggressive.
But it still bothered Leopoldo a bit.
With one hand he locked the woman tightly in his arms so that she could not escape.
-Let me go, Leopoldo! Let me go!
Looking at her, the man looked around, there was no one around at the moment and the maid had left earlier so that the two of them would be alone.
Leopoldo bent down and picked her up.
-Leopoldo, you son of a bitch! What are you doing? Let go of me! I'm going to drink here alone! Let go of me!
Leopoldo looked at the woman in his arms and for a moment became a little angry. Turning quickly, he went upstairs.
The woman's feet swayed and her hands slammed even harder against the man holding her.
-Let go of me! I have a job today and I'm going to drink to celebrate. I want to forget all the unhappy things.
Leopoldo ignored her and continued climbing.
Opening the door, he threw the woman on the bed.
Being thrown hard made Mariana's stomach churn uncomfortably.
-Why are you treating me like this? What have I done wrong?
Her complaints kept falling on Leopoldo's ears making his heart ache and then the pain spread throughout his body.
Still mumbling, the woman stared at the ceiling above her, tears slipping away.
It was like a broken flower.
Leopoldo placed the blanket over the woman, with a gentleness never seen before.
As if sensing her, the woman who had been lying on the bed closed her eyes and the tears fell silently.
Without another word, Leopoldo turned off the light and left the room.
Closing the door, he stood outside for a long time before leaving.
The next day, the alarm clock rang in annoyance.
