The few policemen looked at each other. After thinking about it for a long time, they failed to find that there was an inconsistency with Adelaide’s confession. The head policeman always felt that things were not that simple. He was not blind. When Adelaide spoke, she avoided eye contact with him. He didn’t know what her one hand was doing behind her back. So the other hand she put in front attracted his attention even more.
"Mrs. Baron, is the statement I wrote down okay?" He briefly repeated what Adelaide had said. After speaking, the policeman stared at Adelaide's eyes again, "I have to tell you fabricating evidence is a crime! "
Adelaide took a deep breath. Her beautiful eyes widened so big. She rarely lied. Facing such a group of policemen, she was a little fright and even more guilty.
"Don't scare her. If you don't believe her, you can go to the hospital to investigate. Anyway, we have spare money to raise you idlers!"
The work of the police was not so easy. If it was diligent and honest policemen with a sense of justice, they would always be so busy that they couldn’t go home nor had time to spend time with their children.
But if someone just wanted to goof off, being a policeman would be good choice.
Those policemen couldn't bear Antonio's sarcasm. The head policeman looked like sophisticated. He grinned, "It’s just the routine. Mrs. Baron, don’t be scared. Then we won't bother you two. Goodbye!"
After saying that, he turned around and his flattering attitude just now was gone. His several colleagues around him helped him wear sunglasses and took away the notebook in his hand.
After they left, Antonio squinted his eyes and said, "Miss Hanna, don’t you say you have something to deal with? Then you can leave!"
Hanna glared at him. She knew that Adelaide and Antonio had something to say. If she was here, it would be inconvenient for them to talk. So she didn't argue with Antonio. She just took Adelaide's hand, "Call me if something happens. I will come right away."
Adelaide nodded and waved goodbye to her.
Antonio originally had so many questions to ask Adelaide. But after others left, he didn't think it was necessary to ask her again. He had just misunderstood Adelaide's intentions. He dropped his head, "Adelaide, I want to say sorry to you! "
Adelaide was confused, "What?"
"I thought you were going to tell them where Clarissa has lived."
It was rare for Mr. Antonio to apologize. Adelaide was so surprised. She was used to that he just went his way and that he never apologized. Suddenly he said sorry to her, it was really hard for her to accept.
She suddenly flushed and then shook her head, "I'm just telling the truth."
Antonio didn't understand the truth of the matter, so he believed Adelaide's words. There was a strange emotion rushing into his heart secretly. He felt that Grandma was right. Adelaide was really kind.
He once again had some doubts about his brother’s matter.
The next day was the deadline for Antonio to find out the facts. If Koby were still alive, things wouldn't have been delayed for so long.
