Anne returned to her residential building and went up to the sixth floor.

The apartment was empty and though the toys were still scattered on the ground, no one was occupying the apartment any longer.

Anne sobbed as she tidied up the toys, Bianca’s words cutting into her heart as she thought back to them.

“Are you still renting this place?”

Hearing a voice behind her, she wiped her tears away and turned to find the owner of the apartment standing behind her.

“I called you multiple times, but you didn’t pick up. You weren’t in your apartment either. Are you still renting this place?”

Anne remembered that her phone had fallen into the ocean along with the plane and explained apologetically, “I’m sorry that I didn’t explain this to you in time. I won’t be renting this place any longer. Am I past the due date for rent?”

“Three days past the due date, but it’s fine.”

“Thank you. I will just pack up.”

Anne took all the children’s belongings to her apartment and left the nanny’s belongings

behind.

There was not much left as she had always kept the triplets’ lifestyle simple, as she was too poor and had to watch where she spent.

She did not even dare to buy any piece of clothing that was perfectly fitting, as the children grew up fast and bigger clothes would last them longer.
