Donald came in and looked at Irvin with hesitation.

Irvin gave Felix a deep look.

He turned and walked out.

But he paused at the entrance.

With his back to Felix, he said in a deep voice, “Queeny is my friend as well as the woman you like, so I will do what little I can to help. Don’t worry. I won’t involve my family in it, but you can’t stop me lending a hand in my way.”

Felix said nothing.

With that, Irvin strode away.

Felix was still sitting there after Irvin had left.
