“What did you say?” Hayden panicked a bit.

Joseph frowned, “Don’t ask the question when you know the answer. Addison and I have no intention of getting engaged at all. We pretended we were a couple because grandpa has been watching us too closely during this period. The reason I said such words while we were having lunch was simply that I was afraid that grandpa would make you embarrassed.”

Hayden heaved a sigh of relief as she picked the carrots up from the water and continued peeling them.

“It’s nothing to do with me. That’s your business.”

Seeing her cold attitude, Joseph looked a bit gloomy, “I have explained the previous misunderstanding clearly. I think there’s no need for us to be like strangers.”

Hearing his words, Hayden dropped the carrots in her hand in annoyance and turned around, saying, “Do you think that I will have nothing to do and let a stranger stay overnight in my house?”

Hayden turned a bit agitated as she was very stressed these days. When she was questioned by Joseph, she could not suppress her anger anymore.

Joseph was stunned for a moment.

“I’m sorry.” Hayden frowned and turned around again to pick up the carrots, “Go sit in the living room. The dinner will be ready soon.”

Joseph looked at her back and asked her, “Why can you be so sweet and forgiving to Noah, but not to me?”

Hayden tightened her grip on the carrot a bit and explained, “Noah is just a child. Why do you want to be jealous of your son?”

Joseph was speechless hearing Hayden’s words. When he realized that Hayden was not paying much attention to him, he just stayed in the kitchen and washed the vegetables.

After looking at a tall man walking around in front of him for a long time, Hayden finally couldn’t stand it anymore after half a day, “No one would wash the enoki mushrooms one by one. Can you go out if you don’t know how to do it?”

After dinner, Hayden sent the two children to the bathroom of her bedroom to take a bath. He left the bathroom outside for the two men to use.

After helping the two children to take bath one by one and hugging them to their room, she saw Joseph still standing at the door in his suit when she returned to her bedroom.

“I didn’t bring any clothes.”

Hayden was speechless as she thought that she couldn’t find anyone else but him who was so righteous when he did not bring his clothes but still wanted to stay overnight in her house. “Borrow a set of clothes from Benjamin then.”

“I don’t want to wear clothes that had been worn by others.”

Joseph looked calm and said the words like he did not do anything wrong.

Meanwhile, Benjamin’s voice came from the bedroom behind him, “I don’t lend my clothes to others either.”

“Then what do you want to do?”

Hayden looked at him, “Can’t you go buy the clothes now, right? Now is too late and there’s only a supermarket downstairs. The supermarket only sells T-shirts that worth thirty Yuan per piece. Do you want to wear them?”

“Go and have a look.” Joseph said, “It’s ten o’clock now. I think the supermarket should be still open.”

“You still know what time the supermarket closes?”

Hayden looked at him as if she was surprised and she teased him deliberately, “I thought Young Master Beckham normally didn’t know this kind of common sense in life.”

Joseph looked at her, “ST Group is the shareholder of the supermarket downstairs.”

Hayden felt as if there were some words stuck inside her throat. She was speechless and finally looked at him blankly, “Let’s go. Go to the supermarket in which your family is the shareholder.”

The supermarket near her house was a three-storey country chain store. The supermarket is big and Hayden often bought the cooking ingredients there.

On the third floor, there was a separate area for clothing. There were discounted items sold throughout the years, and many of the brands were nowhere to be found.

“This is it.”

Hayden pointed to the yellow card in the men’s clothing section that stated “Sale. Thirty Percent off for Today.”

She said, “Pick the clothes yourself. They’re all sold at the same price.”

Joseph stood still, “You choose. I can wear whatever clothes.”

“Are you sure?”
